Other people don't do it literally 4-5 times for the most part, it just takes up unnecessary space and looks like attention whoring to be blunt.
Batman, nin, Ray, kanniball, Cutter, Creston (including room for his signature), and WyldKat all did it in this very topic. Most did it literally 4-5 times. Some may have done it figuratively, I'm not sure.
Attention whoring Blues is pretty much reserved for Hellbender and Surf. The closest thing I have is the ages-old signature, but I keep that mostly because it makes scrolling through a page of 50 posts to find my last one very quick and easy when I'm skimming an old topic. |

Seems like once a year or so I need to go to the electronics department in Wal-Mart. It's always in the way back, so I power walk like a madman, get the objective, pay at the register back there and power walk out.
I don't intend to spend one more second than I need to at Wal-Mart. Because no matter where you live Wal-Mart is the random page of this site. |

Those are the breaks. I consider my time precious and would rather not waste it driving around.
However I'm lucky, I work maybe 1 mile away from a BestBuy which is usually well stocked. So I can pick something up during lunch or after work without an issue.
For other places, I try to batch things together like bundle errands together so I only have to make 1 trip to some place 10-15 miles out.
I tend to use the BestBuy (or something similar) if:
- The item is large
- The item has a high chance of return
- I want something now instead of a few days
- The price difference isn't that much lower than Amazon/NewEgg/etc
I weigh all options. Time/tax/shipping/necessity of the item, etc. 90% of the stuff I will just buy online, but my 2 LCD tvs I have purchased at retail stores on sales that you couldn't get online.
Most of the time not paying tax is a win, and shipping at Amazon is almost always free. Can't really beat that when you are paying 10-50% less than a retail store.
Really the only thing I don't buy onilne is stuff from Menards/Home Depot when I am working on stuff around the house, dog stuff, booze and food.
The most important factor being my time. I put my hourly wage in place of leaving the house and doing a task. I really do hate dealing with people in public....I do it enough at work, having to do it on my days off is a nightmare.... |

The initial purchase I made while I was in town, and the 3rd trip was again on the day I'm in the area. The only extra trip I made was to return the initial purchase, and back then it only cost about $4 round trip in fuel. |

I bought CRT monitors online, but my first LCD purchase was from Circuit City. It was actually cheaper than anywhere online, and good thing too. I did my research and was set on a particular monitor, but I had to return it twice to get one without dead pixels. The Circuit City was 50 miles away too, so that wasn't fun. The 2nd time, I took my notebook with me and they let me hook it up and run DPT. It had a dead pixel, but unfortunately they didn't have any more in stock, so I had to come back a 3rd time anyway.
My 2nd, and current monitor I got from Best Buy. Once again, I read reviews and did my research and had one picked out. Best Buy had it on sale and cheaper than anywhere online. The Best Buy is also 50 miles away, but this time there were no dead pixels.

I decided to check, and the first cable I went for with same length, same gauge was cheaper at MonoPrice 
I did the same, it looks like they are back and forth on prices depending on what you need. I didn't compare shipping. Got a really nice HDMI channel switch thingie, have 2 xboxs, PS3, and pc setup to 1 tv. Works damn slick with a remote. |

| I actually see a lot of possible innovation and potential with the new controller. Whether third party developers will actually take the time to take of advantage of that remains to be seen, but there are innumerable possibilities that could make games like RPGs better. |

I would call/e-mail Newegg and ask for the new (lower) price to be honored on your recent purchase of the same item. Granted they will most likely give the difference to you as store credit, but it's better than a poke in the eye.

Actually no. I was opposed to DDO because of the Eberon setting and real-time combat, more hack and slash nature. In spite of that, it actually turned out to be pretty damn fun. We already know what to expect with Neverwinter. Now, if Cryptic can deliver - and in this particular case I think they can.
The last time you were this stoked for something, it was for Dungeons and Dragons Online. :p

I really really really hope Neverwinter and indeed Cryptic can survive the Perfect World acquisition. From what I've been hearing, as well as how they handled Runic's development of Torchlight, Perfect World seem to be very hands off in regards to the studios they own, much like Zenimax and their relationship with id/Bethesda.
Hopefully that is true. The Foundry tech built into STO and indeed will be the back-bone of Neverwinter is simply amazing and should really allow for DnD fans to build their own modules to share with the world. It's the kind of thing we like to see in single player games, in an MMO it's just amazing. |

The real question about the new control gimmick, and yes it is totally a gimmick, is how the consumer base that the Wii built, you know casuals and old people, will take to it.
The whole reason why the Wii was such a success was because it was uncluttered, intuitive, and most of all, CHEAP.
Motion controls were a gimmick that made sense, they were a new way to interact with the game in a natural way. This is just yet another peripheral from a company that is peripheral happy. They even unashamedly featured a video of a blaster gun with the Wii U controller, a Wiimote, and a nunchuck all cobbled together. Seriously?
The controller is also quite large, with a screen and all the other stuff crammed into it is also likely quite heavy. I can't see this as being comfortable for a core gamer who's used to logging in hours at a time as it's as ergonomic as a brick. I can't see casuals getting excited to embrace a new controller that does absolutely nothing to enhance gameplay other than adding another screen they must watch. I don't see the mature market finding a point in the device or willing to fiddle with a wiimote and the controller.
The Wii U will still enjoy sales to early adopters that must have the latest gadget and Nintendo fans salivating at a chance to play a Zelda game with modern graphics, but in the long run I think it's going to scare away the core Wii customers that liked it for it's simplicity and ease of use.
Now all that said. Had the device been a PROPER tablet and be able to transfer and play games anywhere, as well as also possibly running an OS like Android, then it WOULD be revolutionary. As it stands, though, it is just a clunky, large, and likely expensive controller with a non-HD screen.
Ironically with the Ruin demo on the PS Vita they showed that the Vita and PS3 were capable of exactly the same transfer of the game from the TV to the portable, with the added bonus that the game was actually transfered to the portable and could be carried around anywhere, not just within the confines of the room/house the console is set up in. |
