Um, will there be a public demo for those who didn't preorder this game? |

Oh. I should have quoted him, then.
Modern day shooters can't be over 20 hours if they're tight, cinematic scripted experiences. They can be if they're open world with lots of downtime.
In the days of Duke one level designer and one artist could create 7 hours of content on their own. Today it takes dozens of each for the same accomplishment, but games cost the same amount. As a result playtime has diminished. You get fewer hours. But you also get denser hours. |

Beamer, I don't understand your question. I was attempting to comment on this:

I'd gladly bet right now that it won't be 20 hours of playtime for SP. What linear, scripted FPS is? |

Whether I buy it at full price vs. Bargain bin depends on how short / long it is.
If it's under 10 hours of gameplay, like other modern day shooters... I can wait for it to be in the bargain bin.
If it's over 20 hours... I'll pay full price. I doubt the original was close to 20 hours. If you're like me it just seemed longer because you replayed it and cranked up the difficulty enough to make it punishing. |

DukeFNukem wrote on Jun 2, 2011, 12:18: This trailer sucks a rosy red titty. The scenes flip so fast you don't even really have time to focus on anything. Im sure the video could be used to produce epileptic seizures in some people.
Im also not really all that crazy about the way this game seems to rely heavily on porn and sex much more than the original. The choice of song makes this even more evident. Why the hell would somebody choose a song called "Stroke It" for an action game like Duke Nukem? Do the game developers want all teenagers to purchase this game instead of porn for their masturbation fix?
I loved the original Duke Nukem 3D game and was looking forward to this one but this trailer is a bit of a turn off.
Its a little pathetic. What are you 70? LOL After reading your post I was expecting crazy ...it was a good trailer and NOT seizure inducing, at all. Must suck to be old (or have an old state of mind) |

I had a ton of fun playing Duke3D multiplayer. I'm hoping they can capture the same magic and hilarity that ensued from the first game's MP. I did too but since then the industry has basically replicated most of that stuff except trip mines. I guess it depends on the level design. Oh well, I'll check out the demo tomorrow which will hopefully have an MP map or two.
Don't like the voice over for Duke, though Isn't that John St. John? Same guy, he's just older now bro, like us |

Demo tomorrow I believe, so hopefully we will see.
I havent pre-ordered it yet, so if the game sucks I save $45. If it's good, I'll be pre-ordering before June 14th.
