Playable Catwoman in Batman: Arkham City

A Batman: Arkham City preview on GameSpot has a pre-E3 look at the upcoming sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum. This includes the revelation that the Catwoman will be a playable character in the game. They offer a video interview that includes some shots of the character, showing her unique abilities. Word is: "The team wanted to ensure players wouldn't feel as though they were controlling Batman with a curvier skin. As a result you can expect decidedly different ways to get around the city, examine the environment, and fight with enemies. Since she lacks a nifty cape and grapple line, Catwoman will take a much more physical approach to getting around that relies on her trusty whip, parkour-like moves, and good old fashioned climbing and jumping. The demo highlighted the nimble and graceful way Catwoman will get around, and teased what appears to be a scoring system for how she moves around. During the demo as Catwoman picked up speed and made her way across rooftops we saw point totals appear at points during her leaping. Ginn noted the points will be awarded based on a players skill for moving through the city." Thanks Jason.

So hang on, just so I'm sure we're clear. You're just complaining for the sake of complaining now?

I mean...you have an extra character. They never said that they were reducing the Batman portions of the game in favor of the Catwoman portions. The game is 40 hours long at least, according to the dev team.

I like a good complain as much as the next Bluesnews guy but...damn...that's just reaching.

Batman Arkham Asylum was by far the best console port I have played in years.

I even got an xbox360 controller for it even though mouse and keyboard was just fine. I loved it.

She was originally supposed to be the co-op character, so this isn't a recent addition. I have a magazine cover somewhere with both her and Batman on the cover from about a year or so ago.

The first game was really good. This one looks amazing. Catwoman sliding under the truck...I wonder if that was a real move or a cut scene. It was kind of hard to tell. Her character looks awesome. It will be fun to have two characters with different styles of fighting. How big is this game going to be? The city looks pretty large.
