I got the beta, but is this game even worth trying? Is it fun as original AoE from Ensembles? I enjoyed that one.

Yeah, I played in the beta, too (thanks, Blue!) and found that it was kind of fun, but then you play for a while, and then you play for a while longer, and find that you're *still* stuck in the bronze ages, with just one military unit of each type.

I'd have put up with the grind more if it didn't feel like a 20 hour long tutorial for a game I've been playing for almost 15 years now.

I found the beta to be surprisingly fun. It's interesting to look at an RTS from a MMOG standpoint.. farming the (dumb) AI's endless fodder for XP..

The game is basically stock Age of Empires 2, and that is still a fun basic game.

AoE Online is Evony without the lameness

It can't be AOE2 and Evony.

I found that it was like AOE2, if a big brick wall was placed between you and the game. Most of your time is just spent chipping away at that wall so that you can play the game you actually want to play.

Ouch. I have no idea about the details but I seems as if you have to pay at least $20 for each civilozation? And that isn't even all where you can spend money?

I must admit that I'm constantly impressed what kind of price models are accepted by an sufficient amount of players.

Ahh, yes, but with Evony you get to "Cum and Play! My Lord!"... or is it "come"? I could never tell from the context of their advertising.

That's what it says on GameSpy. We didn't get that press release here (in spite of handing out 520-something keys to the AoEO beta).
