Those with money get off or wrist slapped, the rest to the Corp run jail system that gets paid per inmate. Wonder how those Corps push laws...

Not gold farming, but... You'll get the idea.
Anyways, the constant ad spamming by the gold farmers in e.g. LotRO is annoying, I give you that. Fortunately, Turbine people are usually quickly banning those people. Hard times in China...

What I was aiming at was that idea that the evil Chinese empire would only imprison political and/or religious leaders. There's the triads, there are the usual killers, child molesters, rapists, arsonists, you name it. Crime is a worldwide problem. Of course, China has a very different legal system, and a lot of it is based on fear of anything that could endanger the power of the political leaders. People simply "disappear" without their next ones knowing what happened to them. People get executed (well, the death sentence is wide spread in the world), and some of them get murdered for their political ideas or religions. That's all true. Nevertheless, the vast majority of Chinese prisoners is not doing time for following the wrong flags or for reading the bill of rights. Plus: you can find innocent people behind bars not only in China, but in every country. In the US e.g., farmers could go to jail for not using genetically engineered germ buds from a wellknown US monopolist. Of course, these farmers wouldn't be allowed internet access in prison to do some gold farming. Your whole post is pointless and I would have to agree with some other commentators: You are an idiot. Or maybe you're party chairman of the People's Democratic Freedom Committee Of Prisons. In either case, your attempt to put a happy smiley face on a horrible, oppressive government has failed.

Not sure your snarky comment really deserved more thought than he gave it already. While I'm not educated on Chinese law I look at as if it was appropriate punishment then it would have been doled during sentencing. Is it better than swinging a mine pick or picking up garbage? I guess that depends on your perspective but I don't view either situation as ok. As a friend of mine who went to jail over drug crap told me after he got his life cleaned up "there is no greater punishment than pure boredom of prison". |

Which brings up the question: who's paying for e.g. the lethal injections in the US?

Begging in the streets? Dead in a gutter? Bludgeoned, raped, and mangled in an alley? You're implying that if they didn't have these jobs, they would somehow be better off. Yes, it's slave labor. However, given the choice between manual labor or playing WoW all day long, how many people would choose the former? (I might, but I really don't like WoW and could use the exercise)
I'm just saying that with all of the injustices China forces on its citizens, there are definitely worse things to be concerned about. |
