They don't make any money on Blizzcon. In fact, they lose money. They can afford to lose some pocket change, compared to the unlimited money bags they collect monthly from WoW. It's prestige. Prestige is never meant to turn a profit. Like a restaurant that sells expensive imported beer on tap, that loses 1$ per glass. But then they sell $1,000 worth of hotdogs to more than make up for it. Cry me a river anytime a major corporation announces operating losses. Blizzard, I will pay $1,000 if you drop me Diablo3 after dinner , into my swag bag. Otherwise, no thx. I'll continue my own charity donations elsewhere. |

You can't buy the kind of PR that BlizzCon receives, days of coverage on even mainstream news sites around the world. If they had to pay people to attend BlizzCon it would still be a money maker overall for them. |

They have enough of a fan base there's plenty of people who will pay that price. Given how fast they sell out every year, they could probably sell them for $300 normal ones and charity at $1000 and still sell out quick. Plus with ticket prices that high, they can not only take more profit but at the same time use a higher dollar amount in making the show even more impressive. They don't make any money on Blizzcon.
