I might have provoked the man child with my comment, But i was "OWNING" on these types of games when he was fresh out of third grade ..and the game was called Quake and we played on servers called Quake World...same type of game now...Just Different textures and "upgrades"
BF3 will Change once again, what REAL PC gamers think about Online warfare, short of a true simulation (non ARMA hardcore) that vid of MW3 looks the same as the last 2 games released by this studio..Yes, I may buy it for single player, I do enjoy a good SP experience...but most of you K/D whores (not aimed at you Teddy) have never played ANY of these titles SP. |

Yes and Twitch shooters have their place..UT3 , Quake 3 LIVE... NOT military shooters... In my opinion...We PC gamers were the ONLY people that played BF2 back in the day.. We adults do not mind doing things for the team , or running a lil to an objective...COD and MOH are for lil kids that have attention deficit disorder and need to feel superior while they crank up THEIR K/D ration...Not caring about any team play... Been gaming since Day one... In school with Doom MP LAN.. BF2 Changed the WHOLE online war shooters.. COD and MOH are just UT3 or Q3 in different textures..and now with KILLSTREAKS... |

I remember when they used to make things called expansion packs and sold them for $20. Now, they simply pump out what is essentially the same game year after year and charge a premium for it.
No wonder half the CoD community is filled with idiot fanboys! They'd have to be stupid to continue buying and supporting this franchise.
This is why we can't have nice things. They get the impression that it's okay to continue to sell the same game over and over again as long as they sell well while titles such as Psychonauts go unnoticed and dumped on for poor sales. |

Anyone know of a more future'ish FPS coming out some time soon? Something along the lines of the weapons/tech found in Unreal. I've been sick of the typical current gen gun games for a while now.
Rage seems like the only thing coming up that might be a little different. Not sure how futuristic or odd the weapons will be but the game looks different... |

Anyone know of a more future'ish FPS coming out some time soon? Something along the lines of the weapons/tech found in Unreal. I've been sick of the typical current gen gun games for a while now.

Apparently it's easy to make "modern combat" look awesome. Does come off as been there done that at points, the street fighting in new york complete with falling building is right out of crysis 2. Plenty of cool shit to look at though. Definitely worth $3.
The graphics look good, the animations look great and the set pieces look spectacular.
Sometimes I just want a closely scripted cinematic experience. MW1 and MW2 did this almost better than anyone else. Again, I say "almost" because while they had great setpieces and fantastic control too much of the rest wasn't right to the point that the whole thing is somewhat ruined. Still worth $40 to me.
I just started playing Medal of Honor the other day. Possibly just stopped, too. It's amazing how off the whole thing feels. I don't care about anyone, my weapons don't feel like they do much, enemies don't seem like they do anything, etc. It makes me realize that doing MW isn't as easy as it looks. And while I respect that some decisions, like infinite respawning, are there to create a feel of urgency (a feel that's wholly lacking in Medal of Honor) it's way the hell overdone. Way the hell. |

I agree- if I want to play a twitch shoot-em-up, I grab UT3/TITAN and frag out. Sometimes COD is fun for that very reason, but I find the maps are too small and its a bit of a spamfest. Of course, GREED Fragasm is my fix if I want the very definition of spamfest.
BF2 allows you to employ just a little more strategy, with bigger maps, plus fun vehicles. Now done with twitching and back to playing Arma2 Domination! |
