Quote of the Day

"Piracy these days on PC is probably less problematic than second-hand sales on the Xbox," says lead Fable III combat designer Mike West. "I've been working on PC games for many years and piracy is always a problem. There are a lot of honest people out there as well, and if they like your game they'll buy it." Thanks joao.

The industry really needs to take a step back, and look at what the hell is going on rather than simply looking at their shrinking profit margins and reacting on impluse.

I couldn't agree more with you but I doubt that will happen. Unfortunately a shitty publisher/developer isn't going to look at the situation and say "oh we need to make GOOD games, of course!". They are more likely to refine their existing offerings slightly in the form of gentle nudges like preorder bonuses or more forcefully with things like online passes and missing features.

I agree, but then comes the problem...consumers need to buy those great games that developers make.

In the last 10 years alone, how many critically acclaimed games were developed and sold and failed in the market because no one purchased them?

In the last 10 years, how many games were critically considered ho-hum and people gobbled them up like Thanksgiving dinner? How many retreads of games (CoD, Madden, etc) were made and sold?

Developers and Publishers will create and sell based upon proven means of income...this is why we see less and less new IPs and more and more sequels and retreads of games.
