Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon 3D Film Plans

Variety follows up on Ubisoft's movie studio plans with word that this will result in three 3D films based on game franchises; Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon. Word is:
An epic action-adventure, "Assassin's Creed" turns on the conflict between Templars and Assassins, two secret orgs with different ideologies who have influenced, according to the game, most major historical events.

An action drama in the vein of "The Bourne Identity," "Splinter Cell" turns on an elite secret agent fighting world terrorism and struggling to protect his daughter.

"Ghost Recon," a tech-driven war actioner set in the near future, follows a secret, elite team of soldiers fighting for world peace with cutting-edge military technology.

Baronnet said Ubisoft Motion Pictures has been working with the games' producers and Ubisoft's marketing team to identify the DNA of each game and come up with storylines that are consistent.

Yes, I wish this stupid 3d fad would go away yet once more.

It's about as likely to go away as the reality TV fad.
Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Perfectly fine with 3D over here. No motion sickness or headaches even in long movies. Actually I stop noticing it after about 15 minutes entirely. I do notice my 5 dollars is gone though.

wonder what kind of DRM and activation is needed to view the movies. does the user have to be online while watching the movie in theaters?

I had this problem with Toy Story 3. 3D flat out makes me puke. Literally. I have horrible motion sickness issues. Cars, trains, planes, boats... oh god boats. Oddly I can ply FPS games 2 inches from my 30" display and have zero problems.

I wanted to see Toy Story 3 but every damned theater whiten a 30 min drive only had it in 3D. It was down right sad. Not to mention the tickets were like through the roof.

I think theaters are ramming 3D down our throats because there is a higher profit margin on them. It costs them pennies to add the support but charge viewers stupid high prices. Higher than they need to be to cover the additional tech cost.

My god, would they stop with all the 3D crap already, it’s the worst fricking tech to ever be made and is ruining IMAX movies. Why do they think people want 3D when it’s a totally failure and nothing more than a gimmick. Hollywood is so blinded by idiocy, you can’t even go an enjoy a movie without it being 3D anymore. You can’t even go and see IMAX anymore without it being 3D. Absolutely absurd!
