| The map design isn't conducive to the combat flow. The health doesn't really separate the classes very much, light dies in 2 hits instead of 4 but due to the ridiculous SMG spam everyone dies fast no matter what. It's very poorly balanced and the map design is a big let down. I'm really disappointed in Brink after spending more time with it but at least it hammers home the lesson that I need to stop preordering games. |

Considering how much of a disadvantage that offense has, it's especially lame that the defensive team can quickly undo hacks. This pretty much sums up just about my biggest issue with the game so far. I've completed the game as one of the rebels, trying it now as a cop, and so far the worst map in my opinion is the airport one where you have to crack the safe and get out with the documents inside. The room the safe is in has three entrances, and the defending team can basically guard all 3 from the upper level entrance. Congregate there with a watch force on either side, and you pretty much own the room. They're coming left? Shift forces there, right, the same, center, well they're already all there. At this point, even when my team manages to get the data and nearly make it to the exit point, it's always seems to be nearly smothered by the opposing team who takes the carrier out at the last second and then the whole process begins again. |

I just right now got back from an amazing game where I was on offense and we won with 25 seconds remaining.
It was escort bot, repair crane, cap bioweapon.
The whole map people were bitching about how badly we we're doing and about how hard the choke point was, but we managed to pull it off with some concentrated rushing and good class playing. |

Take CS for example, it doesn't take much camp a bomb site all round but it does take either a few very talented players or a coordinated team effort to plant the bomb.
In Wolf:ET everyone would always play the D-Day map where you had to blow open the doors and cap the intel. Most maps the allies wouldn't even make it up the beach let alone to the intel. It is how they generally play, but question is, should it be? Even in CS bomb objective mode there were two bomb sites forcing the defnders to split up while the attackers could choose which to hit.
While there are secondary objective points that defenders will occasionally fan out to protect, they're non-essential in terms of mission completion.
Perhaps something that required multiple essential objectives to be completed but didn't require they be done in any specific order. It would force the defenders to split and would require more communication and coordination from the teams. |

Turn up your settings. Not sure who else was complaining about it, but visual feedback wasn't my issue. It was the lack of aural feedback when hitting someone. Some of that was evidently a bug. I wasn't even getting a sound when meleeing someone, now that seems to have corrected itself, but I don't get any distinctive aural feedback when I shoot someone. Which is something that I found other shooters did well, and realistic or not, helped with the feel of the game and knowing that you've landed shots even in chaotic situations. I |

I love this game, can't stop playing it. Patch fixed the tiny bit of graphical lag I was getting and now it runs smooth as butter.
Feel sorry for anyone who is disappointed with the game. Yeah, it may only have like 10 maps. But I don't really care, they're well built maps and fun to play on.
But then again, I'm also someone who plays with a dedicated group of clanmates in every game I go into so I guess that contributed to my fun factor as well, I don't have to deal with playing with randoms or bots. |

Not entirely sure what they did with the patch, but the game actually runs worse for me now, and has noticeable stuttering. I've also started to get some serious corruption with in game text randomly. Examples are name plates over heads, objects, score screen, turrents, etc. Basically, anything that can have text can become glitchy and unreadable. This does NOT occur with ingame graphics (environment, guns, players), only text. Bots seem like they might be doing better, but it's hard to tell since they still die so damn fast. And finally, it seems like they've buffed bot damage. Whereas before, I could get into some firefights and take some hits, now I seem to go down insanely fast at times. I even upped my body type to big to beef up the health pool, took health and vest upgrades, and carried a chain gun. I walk up behind a distracted bot, point blank begin to empty my gun into his head, and he just turns around and one shots me. And it doesn't even seem consistent, sometimes I'll be firing at them and not seeming to do any damage, they'll run three steps, then keel over dead. This is all occurring solo btw, and not on a server. |

I know this is a game unlike other FPS and it's more akin to ET which I love but even when I go to ET related forums opinion there is also quite divided, which leaves me wondering if I would love this game or not. This is clearly a game where a demo is truly needed. other than the parkour-ish movement, new coat of paint and the customization stuff, its so much like original ET that it could easily be a sequel
if you loved ET, then you will probably like this game.. unless you are some hardcore nutjob

For those getting low framerates, are you experiencing this in single player and/or challenges? Because the single player portions seem to have a hard limit of 30fps. Don't ask me why I have no clue!
I played a few challenges and then went online and my fps instantly doubled and is a solid 60+ fps in online games. I get the same framerate offline that I get online.
But I definitely don't think it's worth $50 for what amounts to 8 multiplayer maps and nothing more. In all honesty, has there ever been any multiplayer game where you played more than 8 maps on a regular basis? I can't think of any that I've played.
Another thing I wanted to point out was how good the player models look--however, I rarely ever notice what other people look like in game. I don't know if it's because I'm always looking for nametags above heads to tell if they are friend or foe or what, but I feel as if the avatar customization is just a big gimmick. Well, yeah. Any kind of aesthetic customization is purely gimmick since it has no impact on gameplay. This is true of any game. I like that I can customize my character's appearance, though I wish there were more options. |

I'm going to try "old skool" game mode tonight because it apparently has no bots? The bots are annoying as hell because they just walk right into the open and get gunned down. I was playing a hvy and I was literally firing non stop only stopping to reload my minigun and it was painfully obvious I wasnt playing humans. Checked the scoreboard and I think there was 3 people?
Disable the stupid bots.
I can't tell you how good the game is at this point because gameplayis so inconsistent. Even when you find a great game when it ends I end up end a game with bots the next match. Why are bots even in here?! |

Finally had a chance to play some more. The game is running smoother for me now (on an ATI 5850) and the gameplay seems to be falling into place, now that people are getting a handle on the game.
Edit: And some more after that. The game is a great deal of fun, and it encourages team work. The 'quest' wheel does a good job of it, and there's a lot of flow to the gameplay. I started out regretting my purchase, but not anymore.
I also like that you can customize each weapon per character, and then just choose a new loadout at any command post. It's a great way to adapt to situations as they change.
