Modern Warfare 3 in November?

Kotaku reports they have "learned" that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is in the works and will be released on Nov. 8, 2011, attributing this to "multiple sources," who reveal details about the story and game modes in the military first-person shooter sequel. They seem pretty convinced this is all bona fide, saying: "we've gone to great lengths to nail down as much as possible the veracity of our sources. We believe that the imagery and chief details are accurate. That doesn't mean things can't change before release, but this appears to be a full run down of where Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software is [sic] on Modern Warfare 3 as they add the final polishing touches." They offer a gallery of art said to be from the game, as well as a separate article that makes no effort to avoid possible spoilers. Here's a bit from the first article, which makes an effort to avoid such spoilers:

The single-player campaign, which appears to wrap up most of the unanswered questions and character fates of the first two Modern Warfare titles, also introduces new characters who appear to be destined for future Modern Warfare games, especially two Delta Force operatives codenamed "Frost" and "Sandman".

Multiplayer in the game returns with a chunky list of playable maps as well as two types of Spec Ops modes: "Survival" and "Mission".

its gonna be a cheap put together, like the old engine which i think it will with a few extra tweeks no doubt, a cheapo quick money grabber.

I rented MW2 for xbox, bought Blops for PC with high hopes that the GunGame would be a mod and not a wager match....guess that sucks.

Wish they would release tools so that we can get GunGame going all the time rather than a stupid wager match. Would also be nice to make our own maps and have our own stuff going on.

For these reasons, I won't be buying the next iteration. I am playing other games and have that ever looming backlog to play. Will probably rent this next one just to play through it.

Henceforth I shall refer to this as COD 4: 3

Ah thats true. If BF3 is anything close to as good as BC2 was, CoD will actually have some competition for once. I hope BF3 is actually good though and not just a clone of CoD and just as bland and uninteresting.

You can attribute this to the "BF3" effect. Feel the heat dudes.

I don't know why they keep making new CoD games. They should just make expansions, slap a $100 price tag on them and they'd still sell 100 million of them in a week.

Sheeple.

Yea, I'm sick of sequels too. Next thing you know, they'll start doing it in the movie industry.

I wonder if they'll pass over the PC version this time, they (IW) did such a horrible job supporting MW2 I can't imagine PC gaming people would pick this over BF3.

Yes. Because DICE has such an awesome history of pc-support.

Recent history, at least. DICE has become as mediocre a dev as IW.

Anyway, I will be buying neither. Red Orchestra 2:Heroes of Stalingrad is where my money lies, a true PC game made by a PC developer.

Anyone know if this game will have any type of Coop like its predecessor? I really liked those Coop missions, they were a lot of fun.

The coop mode in Modern Warfare 2 was called Spec Ops mode. From the quote Blue posted above they will extend that in the new title.

I wish they'd sell the MP side of this game seperate of the SP. Even if they jacked up the price to $40 (instead of $30) I'd probably still be happier paying less than $60...although I'm probably going to goozex this one...so what do I care. Long as lots of other people buy it I'm good!

You seem to have missed a small addendum, Blue.

Multiplayer in the game returns with a chunky(*) list of maps as well as two types of Spec Ops modes: "Survival" and "Mission."

(*) Note: Map list cannot truly be considered "chunky" until player purchases four map packs at $15 each.

What are the chances that this may have been an internal leak from some disgruntled employer at IW as revenge for what happened at IW?

Nahh, they are just taking the cow's remains, putting it into a press and seeing how much milk residue they can get. In 6 months they will melt the cow down, boil off what they can and see if any milk is there. After that, they will just give you water with a milk label on it.

Just think! That 45 minute SP portion will explain everything! and then it's on to the MP!
