| I have a few friends who I've never been able to badger into reading the books, but who I've gotten to watch the HBO series. They are completely lost, they tell me. Too much going on, and no explanation into why the politics work out they way they do, which in the series is largely dependent on the previous generation, and largely explained as you read through the books. It made me realize that the series really is just porn for us people who have read the books and know what's going on, and don't have to rely on spoken dialogue alone to take in all the history that leads into the series. |
