Quote of the Day II

"When I think about it, if you go back and look at the original Call of Duty, how they built that, the first Call of Duty didn’t do 18 million units. The franchise was built over time, building a quality consumer experience and supporting it well. And hey, there’s a lot of room between 2.6 million units and 18." -- THQ CEO Brian Farrell on Homefront's prospects of CoD's level of success.

So, basically "OMG WE MUST HAVE A CALL OF DUTY TOO!!!!!!"

Sigh

Whatever happened to the fucking days when game companies wanted to make great games, rather than just fucking clone whatever happens to be popular right now? Cunts.

Most of them went out of business.

Nostalgia isn't want it used to be.

There never was any such time. Or rather, there has always been some innovators and some copiers and now is no different.

Yep, last CoD game I bought was UO. It was awesome and I played many hundreds of hours of it. Never touched the others or ever heard anything to make me think I missed anything by not playing them.
Truth is brutal. Prepare for pain.

Why is it the worse a series gets the more units it sells? Or am I just an old geezer who thinks all popular games are naturally shit?
