Frostbitten Need for Speed The Run in November

EA now offers the official announcement of Need for Speed The Run, their just-revealed continuation of the racing series. This includes word that the game will be released on November 15, and that it will be making use of the Frostbite 2 engine that DICE developed for their Battlefield series. Here's a bit:

Need for Speed The Run lures players into an underground world of illicit, high-stakes racing. The heat is on – and it isn’t just the fuzz who are after you. Entering the race is just the beginning as you blow across borders, weave through dense urban traffic, rocket down icy mountain passes and navigate narrow canyons at breakneck speeds. I'm with ya, although I thought the new Hot Pursuit was horribly arcadey... as in, it was like you weren't even driving a car.

Well I'm interested. I still like the series, I don't mind another approach to include a storyline and I want to see how the Frostbite 2 engine handles racing games.

With a script edit you could even swap engines. Hitting a curb in a race could shear off your oilpan causing the engine to sieze up, or you could even have a really bad wreck and leave your car a twisted heap of metal. For all of its faults, I really loved the concept of buying a junked out used car, fixing it up, and racing it where crashing had real consequences, often forcing you to rebuild the car. And yeah, a remake of Street Rod (with classic cars ONLY PLEASE) would be awesome, or maybe just bringing back MCO...

Yep, it was drift drift drift. See a corner? To go fast, you have to drift! Oh, but you have this grippy Ferrari 458 which has a lot of downforce and a special differential? Well, you still have to drift! Drifting may look spectacular, but it is usually not the fastest way around a corner, except maybe in rally.
