Jurassic Park: The Game Delayed

Telltale's episodic Jurassic Park: The Game is delayed, as the developer has sent a letter to those who have preordered the movie-based game that even though the first episode was due this month, it no longer has a set release date. They will be providing a full refund over the coming days to all preorder customers, as well as a full game for free as compensation. PC Gamer has the full letter, which explains the situation like this:

Our goal was to release the first episode of Jurassic Park: The Game this month, and currently we are very excited about how the game’s creation is progressing. The game’s mechanics and storytelling have come together in such a way that we see great potential, so much so that we feel we can push these elements to the next level if we spend some extra time working on them. It is because of this that we are delaying Jurassic Park: The Game on PC to ensure PC players get the best possible gaming experience.

We’ll be investing the extra time into making the game great and it will be released simultaneously on every platform this fall. We regret any disappointment on the part of our fans but we are confident you’ll be pleased with our decision when the game comes out.

Hmmmm go figure, yet another could be cool movie licence game concept turned into yet another 3rd pov asscam experience that is gonna again suck ball.

Trespasser was cool btw. I wish they`d do a part 2. You`d think with the horsepower of cards these days, that some dev team would jump at doing a Trespasserlike fps experience. But nope. What do we get?????

Jurassic Park..... the game.

This was already done back in the Win95 days with Trespasser.

It also could have been good, but the systems at the time just didn't have the horsepower to play it. It wasn't until a few years later that it was anything other than a slideshow, and unfortunately, it was basically just an arm and hand simulator i.e. all you did was manipulate objects with a rubbery arm.

Some screens here:-

The real world physics were cool for the time, as was the size of the game area.

LOL Damn I was just about to post "TRESPASSER TRESPASSER TRE....

I wont forget first feeling how you have to manually position the iron sights... YOu could even point the gun at yourself and shoot yourself.

A game that had some epic physics for the time and features lost in time.

Love the concept of going to a broken down version of JP also.

the book was great!

Despite them implying otherwise I hope this is to change/improve the game. The horrible video I have seen of this makes me want to stay far away from it in its present condition.

they aren't doing anything cool here - it looks as cheap and shitty as you could imagine.

The actual article states that they intend on revamping a lot of the gameplay based upon feedback from the trailer...which can mean quite a bit. Granted this is conjecture, but at least TT is keeping up good PR with their customers.

There must be some kind of clever joke that could be made about ressurecting an 18 year old movie about ressurecting 65 million year old dinosaurs...but fuck it, I'm tired today

I'd rather they take their time and get it right than ship early.

Isn't this about 20 years too late already?

Clearly the IP holder is trying to resurrect interest in the franchise, just like BTTF. The way to do that nowadays appears to be with a video game.
