Portal 2 Watch

According to GLaDOS@Home, calculations are complete for two of the 13 games, as players look to trigger an early release of Portal 2. Both The Wonderful End of the World and 1... 2... 3... Kick It are complete, and a Dejobaan triple-play looms, as it looks likely that AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity will be next.

Hmm, let me think for a half second.

Yes.

At the minimum, I've found out about non-steam indie games that I've purchased and enjoyed from comments of people here.

I visit blues multiple times a day for gaming news. I read comments on a few stories that catch my interest and respond on fewer still.
I've also enjoyed some stimulating discussion. Yes there are complaints and rants (a few of which are mine), but I still read and respond to comments, and am intellectually stimulated by doing so.

Yes and frankly the entire thing is offtopic and has nothing to do with some obvious trolls who are getting way more attention than they deserve. Some people might even view you always decrying the users and lauding the industry in such an obvious and loaded manner as it's own form of trolling but you're still allowed to post and aren't "ruining the site" or something.

q[Verno, you regularly try to take a reasonable attitude but get shouted down by "No, they just did it to screw me."
Hah, no one shouts me down. If someone trolls me I either have fun with it and make them look stupid or ignore it. You're getting bent out of shape over nothing, there are trolls everywhere. I'm on several larger communities and see it all the time, this place is no different. If it's so bad you can't possibly ignore it then there are plenty of alternatives, it's your loss. Either way making a ridiculous and antagonistic blogpost that makes you seem way too invested in this doesn't help anything.

Maybe it is; I don't know. But then one can argue that it's just a symptom of gaming overall being stuck in a rut.

That there's little discussion and more empty flames and rants? That people are angry for the sake of being angry without even remembering what they're angry about?

That is not true in all cases. I'd say, at absolute worst, even the most hate-filled threads only have about 50% flame posts; I'm not sure why even that's a big deal - they are usually short, and even when they're not, it's pretty easy to spot them and skip over them to get to the parts you'd rather see. If you're not seeing any valuable discussion in any threads, you're not looking hard enough.

Generic complaints about communities for the purpose of attention don't really deserve more than that.

Can you really deny that this place is in a rut?

There's such little discussion of anything. Yes, again, this isn't aimed at you, nor at Jerykk who regularly comments on games he plays. No one else does. Threads in which people mindlessly pile onto thinking DX11 is a marketing scheme get far more comments than one in which people discuss a game they're playing, what makes it good, what would make it better and whether it's worth buying. Verno, you regularly try to take a reasonable attitude but get shouted down by "No, they just did it to screw me."

Which is true, and ironic, as I'm annoyed at all of those discussing how gaming was so much better when the only FPS choices were Doom, Chasm and Powerslave.

I don't know, he accuses Jerykk of being mentally unstable but that was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen posted on the site, not to mention totally offtopic. The site is fine, trolls exist, the end. Move on with your life, sheesh.

The timestamp should likely give off why.

In any case, I've paid 0 attention to whatever ARG Valve has put out there, only looked at these indie game stats to lament how the better ones are lagging behind, played none of them in this time frame, given up nothing, will get the game 6 hours early (well, not really because I went with the PS3 option) and see nothing to complain about.

Anyway dramarama aside it looks like the launch will be Tuesday morning-ish depending on progression which suits me fine. Had a great time with some of the indie games on the weekend. Haters your loss

4 hours early with 5 games completed. My prediction of slightly earlier Tuesday morning is still on track, and all those estimated pages are still incorrectly calling it monday.

No one knows for sure how the calculations are carried out. There's a lot of guesswork out there, but no clarity on exactly how it works. At this point, the best thing you can do is simply play the potato games, preferably the ones that are 'recommended' by the ARG site and definitely not the ones that have already completed calculations. And try and get potatoes from the games if you can... it is assumed that this will be helpful but again, no one knows for sure.

That is the point of the new game. Did you happen to pay attention to the text at the start of the game?
Good of you to come in. This time it will be a trial of character.
Bear in mind. Death is final - nothing will be saved.

As if you add anything whatsoever to these boards, Reagle. Your endless use of various forms of "faggot" and countless mentions of "taking it up the ass" do nothing but make you look like a deeply conflicted 12-year-old homophobe. Grow the hell up.

Beamer had a point, he made it eloquently, and he didn't need to drag out the slurs and gay panic. Agree with him or not, it's what these boards need a lot more of.

I believe Valve's clock only updates when a game is "completed". But the other clocks posted earlier in this thread have their own estimations of earlier unlocks based on total play.

Having the timer only count completed games doesn't make much sense, since Killing Floor is a multiplayer game and can't really be completed. Also, some games would take significantly longer to complete than others.

I didn't mean completed in the sense of "beating" the game, I meant "completed" the progress bar for that individual game on the status page.
