Charlie Sheen Receives Standing Ovation in Chicago |

the audience chanted, "Detroit sucks!" WTF Chicago?
From the article it sounds like Sheen's show still sucked but the audience was determined to "not be Detroit" and patiently endured the crap.
I'm sure if Chicago had been the opener we'd see the same story about people leaving as we did with Detroit. |

I just picked me up a bottle of CC (the 12 year old). Always love me a nice rye and coke or ginger...which I'm imbibing right now.
I'm all brown liquor for fall/winter, but all gin and vodka come spring/summer.
Eli's looks good. This is something Toronto is missing these days. We used to have all these great old taverns everywhere but they got gentrified and pushed out and there's only a few of them left. The restaurant scene just got too precious up here and we need a comeback for some good, old school taverns where booze is the order of the day. There are just so many good bars/taverns in the US major metros it drives me insane thinking about them.
I'm actually giving serious contemplation now to going for my green card and making the move to NYC or Boston simply because opportunities are so limited up here. Even as Canada's biggest city with 1.5 million in the city proper (over 3 mil in the GTA)we just don't have the population density to support a similar sort of scene. Coupled with the fact that it's expensive to go and drink here because our booze is taxed through the roof it's really not conducive to a good bar scene here like it is in the US. I'm actually trying to get into one of the major hotel chains like the Four Seasons where they encourage people to go work at their other places around the globe and learn.
A buddy of mine just got back from Milwaukee and said they have some phenomenal drinking establishments there. |

At the famed Blue Bar of New York's Algonquin Hotel this was the drink of choice for a few years with the ad/fashion/writer crowd. It's a damn fine cocktail and looks great to boot. The guys from Mad Men would have been pounding these on their liquid lunches.
The White Spider
1 small egg white 1 tbsp. fine sugar 1 cup fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 oz. gin 3/4 oz. Cointreau 1/3 tsp. sugar
1. Make a sour mix by combining egg white and sugar with lemon juice.
2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1 1/2 oz. sour mix, gin, Cointreau, and sugar. Shake vigorously, then pour into a chilled cocktail glass. |

Still a bit bummed over the delay to season five of Mad Men. Dude, you made it through the gaps in Sopranos seasons. This should be easy. |
