16. Amputee stops rbbery in Middleton Apr 5, 2011, 02:25 Dan =0)

First off, I personally know the guy who was arrested. Second, his last name is mis-spelled. Third, there's a more detailed story on Salem News: http://www.salemnews.com/local/x598325366/I-just-reacted .

Fourth, I have no idea how/why he would do such a thing... I hate to sound like all those other folks who're friends / neighbors of those arrested but... he seemed like a nice guy. Might be his first offense, who knows...

I've always appreciated Tarantino from a film buff perspective.

Some might argue that his film homages are heavy handed or trying too hard but that's the sort of stuff I like. I enjoy long shots/sharp jarring cuts, thematic color choices, weird angles, disjoint narratives, overly intricate dialog and when you throw some ultra violence and cursing on top that just makes it better

I don't get the hype behind Tarantino. I've seen all of his films. Pulp Fiction was great, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs were OK, Kill Bill was watchable but not that great, but Deathproof and Inglourious Basterds rank among some of the dumbest movies I've seen.

Exactly my thoughts.
I was really into Basterds by half way, but he could'nt help himself & everyone had to turn around & shoot each other twice.

You're slamming the movie because of some gratuitous violence?

You are aware, of course, that Tarantino movies frequently contain... gratuitous violence. It doesn't suddenly discredit the rest of the movie.

And I'm apparently one of the rare persons who found Death Proof an absolute bore while Planet Terror an absolutely smashing good time.

No, I'm slamming the movie because the dialogue sounds like it's written by a 10 year old. And that applies to all of his movies.

He's a one trick pony.

Basterds is god damn fantastic cinema

It's typical Tarantino Masturbation Theatre. Imagine a couple of 10 years olds sitting around trying to write a tough guy flick, and that's about his level.

"heh heh, and he KNOCKS THE GUYS HEAD OFF!"

"ha ha yeah! that's awesome!"

Basterds is god damn fantastic cinema, and Kill Bill (mostly the first, IMO) the same, though for completely different reasons. Basterds is mostly just dudes talking, which I normally wouldn't give two shits about (I don't love Resevoir Dogs)... but when one of those dudes is Hans Landa, it's edge-of-your-seat material. I don't know who exactly draws the line between best "actor" and "supporting actor", but Waltz absolutely deserved the former.

And Kill Bill... what the hell is not to love??? Completely over-the-top ninja violence between a bunch of women. The battle between The Bride and The Crazy 88s was amazing.

It's funny you mention that, as that was a lunch topic with a coworker today. I feel like his career has definitely gone downhill, but I loved his early stuff, even The Village.

I'm trying to figure out why a sequel to Unbreakable hasn't been made yet. It cost $75 million to make the film and made $248 million back. Sequels have been given green lights based on less profit.

Could be worse. Could be M. Night Shyamalan's nine films immortalized in art...

If anyone else here enjoyed the Daft Punk soundtrack for Tron as much as I did, there's a remix disc coming out tomorrow that sounds awesome, so far...

You can stream 4 tracks of it here:

Track 1 (glitch mob remix) is stompin...
