Spider-Man: Edge of Time Announced

Marvel and Activision announce Spider-Man: Edge of Time, an upcoming superhero action/adventure game scheduled for release this fall. The game is in the works at Beenox, developers of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, as they were recently named official keepers of the franchise. Here's word on the game:

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a focused, action-packed adventure set in two connected and evolving timelines, from the contemporary times of the Amazing Spider-Man to the corrupted future world of Spider-Man 2099, against the backdrop of a rich, tightly crafted narrative by acclaimed Marvel veteran Peter David (co-creator of the comic book series Spider-Man 2099). The game features all-new "cause-and-effect" gameplay, where players will see how the immediate and sometimes unexpected effects of their actions as one Spider-Man changes the timeline of the other Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Edge of Time is slated for release this fall.

It's not that the gameplay wasn't fun. I thought it was. It's the bugs that made it unplayable at times. It's as if they're not polling the controllers at regular intervals or something. Key remapping was also buggy unless you were using a 360 controller.

x360ce doesn't work for the game and remapping the gamepad to keys via joy2key(or whatever it's called) still had the same bugs.
Even with the keyboard I must've hit the space button 35 times on the initial tutorial level to try and double jump before it actually did it.

Any team making a superhero game needs to take a page from Batman AA to learn how to do it right.

I guess I'm the only one, but I enjoyed Shattered Dimensions, especially for the level design and boss fights. It's just too bad that this upcoming game sounds as though it will also abandon the open-world web-swinging of earlier Spider-Man games.

Looks like they did the console versions also...

Beenox has always been shit. They've done all the Spider-Man PC ports, and not one could even be described as decent. Throwing the franchise to them means Activision doesn't think there's much profit in it, at least until the next Spider-Man movie hits.

The "official keepers of the franchise" need to get off their ass and fix the horrible PC port. It has the buggiest controls of any game I've played in recent years.

From the couple of levels I played of the 360 version, it wasn't any better.
