The
EGOSOFT Website has one of those ever-popular announcements of an announcement, saying they will unveil TNBT (presumably "the next Big Thing") on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at FedCon XX in Düsseldorf, Germany. They say there will be a brief preview of the game, with all relevant information to be simultaneously released on Egosoft.com. They do note they won't really be there, though: "TNBT will be just one of the titles featured at Koch Media's booth at FedCon. Please be advised that there will be no significant EGOSOFT presence at the event, so please don't attend expecting to see much of the game or the dev team." Thanks

Agreed, but remember that Epic Games was at one time one of the top 5 developers in terms of support (I just reinstalled UT2004, so its superb post-release support is fresh in my mind again), and just look at them now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Egosoft go console before long. Now that the X series is done, this would be the perfect time for them to revamp their game plan. Once they stop focusing on PC, I would expect their post-release support to degrade.
I don't mean to be a downer here... I hope this doesn't happen. But it's certainly the way the industry has gone for 99% of developers. I had moved on from Epic's abandonment of the PC, but reinstalling UT2k4 brought that pain back again. |
