Hah, yeah, I did the same thing.

Now I've thought about both, I'd put this over Kasumi. It's definitely got more substance to it, story-wise. Kind of nice little bridge, even if it doesn't have much of an impact on ME3.

Playing it as a soldier on veteran was too easy though (aside from that one slip-up), I'll have to do it with my alternate (sentinel / insanity).

Suddenly Dead,

(Secret text)

No, I didn't make it past the artifact fight. An adept isn't built to fight standalone against a horde on Insanity. I once made it to about 80%, but then a whole group of Engineers, Vanguards and Pyros show up, and I just don't have any way of taking them down quickly enough before they flank and swarm me. I tried running to a corner in the map, but if you do that the AI just all-out swarms you and you die much quicker. I'll try it with my soldier, see how he does.

As for the crane, if you move the crate, there's some goodies behind the second crate that you can get at. That's all. I spent like 15 minutes there trying to stack that damn crate on the truck for no reason.

I agree that it's not as good as Shadow Broker, but that's solely because of length and locations. Shadow Broker was fantastic. It's definitely better than Overlord and the rest. I liked it a lot more than Kasumi (ignoring that Kasumi gets you a new companion.)

It was one mission, maybe in two parts but there's no breaking out part-way through. Took about 75 minutes on Veteran, haven't tried it on Nightmare yet. Played it on the 360 and there was an achievement at the end of it, so I'm sure that's all there is to it.

Spoiler: the bit where you're near the reaper device and being swarmed; are you able to actually beat them off? One of them snuck up behind me and got me, though the mission continued after that. And what was the point of the crane?

Edit: you can make it further; I missed the achievement for that. And for rescuing the doctor covertly, however you're supposed to do that.

Edit2:

Not as good as Shadow Broker. Better than Firewalker and Overlord. Still not sure where Kasumi sits, but I think it's between Arrival and Shadow Broker.

So far, I really like the DLC. The story is pretty cool (I won't spoil it) and the first mission was excellent. You actually have the opportunity to go in stealthily (and get an achievement) or just say fuck it, and go in guns blazing.

Good setpieces for combat, long battles, all pretty awesome. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was that basically you're unable to save in the second part of the entire mission (first mission, I think there's five in total in the DLC, at least if the unpacking levels were anything to go by), and since I'm playing on Insanity with an Adept, that became quite hairy at a few points.

The other thing I find irksome is that Mass Effect 2 is a squad based combat game (especially on Insanity. You really need your squadmates' powers in order to pull off good combos,) and for some dumbass reason they make you go alone in this one. Other than probably a soldier, most of the ME2 classes aren't really solo-machines. I know the adept sure as hell isn't. Maybe I should have brought my infiltrator...

If there are indeed four more missions and they're all like the first one, this DLC is easily worth the money. So far it's a definite thumbs up.

Edit : Okay, just finished it. There's two more missions after the first one, so it's a bit shorter than I predicted. It still feels pretty long, it took me about 2.5 hours to finish. It's also really flipping epic. The final battle (and the visuals) are awesome, as well as nigh fucking impossible on Insanity with an adept. I finally made it, but not before nearly breaking my keyboard in half.

The repercussions of what happens in this DLC are awesome, and really set up a very cool plotline for ME3 (at least I'd think so.)

It's absolutely worth the 7 bucks, imo.

Typical.

God damn you're a whiny little bitch. I mean seriously.
Something about liking to play on PC and constantly getting screwed over.

They had material in ME and ME2 that you wouldn't get unless you read the books, but you can still get through the story without even realizing that you've missed anything. They seem to know how to handle that sort of thing.

That's also true. I guess I'll find out tonight.

Maybe because its the interlink between ME2 and ME3 ? Likely setting up the story for ME3 proper. (so it'd be logical they'd want many people to play this..)

I doubt it'll really contain many story linkages to ME3, to be honest. In all likelihood, the dude you're sent to track down will give you a "The Reapers are coming!" message, which basically coincides with the video you saw at the end of ME2 (of the Reapers flying towards the Milky Way.)

If they put a lot of story in there, then people who didn't buy the DLC won't understand those references when they get ME3.

I just bought it. I might fire up an old character tonight and play it. (actually replaying ME2 now with a berserker vanguard, but he's not past Horizon yet, so can't play with him.)

I'm hopeful it'll be fun.

On a somewhat similar sidenote, has anyone here ever played Golems of Angarrak? Is that worth getting at all?

Here is to hoping they are using a new version of rar that compresses better.

Oh wait these are the 360 sizes.

EDIT: Just checked the PC sizes and they are about the same.

I know file size is not everything but this might not be as good as Shadow Broker was.

It's still early, PC rollout takes a bit longer, chill man. The last time they tried to rush it out we ended up with a corrupted executable and the time prior to that was one that didn't install properly with Steam. If they need a few hours to get it right then so be it.

Hopefully this will be more like Overlord/Lair of the Shadow Broker and less like the rest of the DLC.

The only other narrative DLC you had to pay for was Kasumi, which wasn't that bad. It's main problem was it brevity, but I guess the point was to give you a companion you might use for the whole game.
