Specifically, the AI character movement is stiff and lacks fluidity. A problem with console games of that era was the AI character movement didn't coincide with the distance the characters travel across the ground...almost like their feet were always slipping. Uh, that wasn't only an issue with consoles. Deus Ex had crappy and janky animations too.
Also, it is apparent that the trailer was made using a console control system because the gun will move at a set speed rather than a fluid motion such as when a human controls it or like a mouse where the motion speeds up at first then quickly slows down when the player reaches the position that they want the gun to be in. Well, yeah. It's pretty obvious that PS3 is the lead platform for DX3, given that all the screenshots, videos and press events have used the PS3 version. |

After years of continuous multi-platform influences, these videos reaffirm my usual stance nowadays to simply delay purchase a month or 2 for mods to make some proper PC adjustments.
If they can't make a cake right, just wait for the frosting.
Plus it's always cheaper by then too. |

Yeah, though personally I find over-ambitious animations to be more annoying than ones that do something simpler better. Maybe I find the latter easier to apply my imagination to... Anyways, over-ambitious animations often seem to go hand-in-hand with stealth-game irritants like their FOV being out of sync with where the animation has their head pointing. |

-Jn- Ifriti Sophist No because Bioware has the tradmark on pressing A for teh awesome to occur. (grumbles something about DA2 being a striped down console action game with a shitty story) |

Really short bursts in these examples which leaves me wondering if most of the mission isn't following a path and these little micro areas have a few options. The different tactics all seem pretty similar to, different ways to kill people, or just sneak up on them and kill them.
Looking forward to playing it but spending money on it doesn't appeal to me at this point. But isn't that what the original Deus Ex was like?
Though I do have to say, finding alternate routes in the original Deus Ex took a little more exploring. However, we've really only seen this level over and over again so far, so hopefully we'll see other movies later that are a little different. |

I dunno, seems meh to me. I'll probably give it a rent for the ol' 360...seeing as it's a console game anyway.

| The animation looked ok to me. Maybe not best ever, but there are more important things to get right. As for the trailer being made with a controller, I noticed that too, but what conclusion are you trying to draw from that? It doesn't give any indication as to whether the PC version will have good mouse support or not... |

To be completely honest the way the AI characters move and the movement of the controls it looks like games made for consoles in the late 90's.
Specifically, the AI character movement is stiff and lacks fluidity. A problem with console games of that era was the AI character movement didn't coincide with the distance the characters travel across the ground...almost like their feet were always slipping. In other words the animation was designed to make the characters appear to move at a specific speed, but the characters are moving either slower or faster without any change in their animation.
Also, it is apparent that the trailer was made using a console control system because the gun will move at a set speed rather than a fluid motion such as when a human controls it or like a mouse where the motion speeds up at first then quickly slows down when the player reaches the position that they want the gun to be in.
This is definitely a game which I would not purchase for a PC without first trying a demo. No Demo = No Purchase. |
