There's been plenty of stories of foreclosures where there shouldn't have been.
the consumerist has plenty of these, plus other stories of being screwed over by the man.
And one interesting story of the little man winning. |

The employee reportedly corresponded with Bank of America employees and was told to falsify loan numbers on documents to force Bank of America to foreclose on homeowners. I'm unclear how they "get away with this". I have a BofA loan atm and I have TONS of documentation plus statements each month to refer to so I don't understand how accidentally tossing my loan into the foreclosure pile and trying to foreclose on me does them any good...
Assuming the worst and a sheriff shows up and escorts me out of the house while they change the locks and the new owner is let in because the auction for my foreclosed house already went through, wouldn't I just call 911 and file a home invasion crime and drop my statements on the officers responding? I would think with records from my bank that show my payments plus BofA's statements showing my payments being received I could go to the county assessor's/recorders office and get them to halt this process immediately?
....I should really find out. I'm going to make some calls. |

Creston, it is the USA. Of course nothing has been done... Wait - unless you meant using taxpayer money to protect them. The entire mortgage industry is having issues, though BoA is certainly leading the charge. Falsely signed mortgage documents? Check. Falsely signed foreclosure documents? Check. Low/no cost deals for members of government? Check. Foreclosing on homes that were not behind? Check. Foreclosing on homes that were not associates with BoA? Check.
Currently, one of the best ways to stall any foreclosure proceedings on your house is to demand the original documents of ownership and sale...

I don't particularly agree with everything anon does, but this is just fucking unbelievable :
The documents indicate that Bank of America improperly foreclosed on several homes during the height of the financial crisis in 2008 that began one of the worst recessions since the great depression. The report came from a former employee with Balboa Insurance — a risk management and insurance firm. The employee reportedly corresponded with Bank of America employees and was told to falsify loan numbers on documents to force Bank of America to foreclose on homeowners. WHAT THE FUCK??? "Hey, let's just destroy people's lives so we can make 50K." How in God's name are these fuckers not in jail? Oh wait, I forgot. Jail is only for normal people, not for assholes who fuck around in corporations.
