Ships Ahoy - DCS- A-10C Warthog

The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics announce the release of DCS- A-10C Warthog, adding a new aircraft to the DCS series as a follow-up to DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark. Their DCS- A-10C Warthog Section offers screenshots and loads of information about the game, as well as online purchases. Here's a bit on the game:

"DCS: A-10C Warthog" is a PC simulation of the U.S. premier Close Air Support attack aircraft. This is the second aircraft in the DCS series, following DCS: Black Shark, and raises the bar even higher in the DCS series. Warthog brings the most realistic PC simulation of a modern fixed wing combat aircraft in regards to flight dynamics, avionics, sensors, and weapon systems. You also have the option to play Warthog in "Game" mode for a casual game experience. Fly missions in the Caucuses region of the Black Sea against and with a wide array of air, land and sea forces with new and improved intelligence. Create your own missions and campaigns with the included Mission and Campaign Editors, and fly with and against friends online using the included online game browser.

Epic take note, that is how you make a trailer. I mean, I don't even like flight sims and I want to buy it now.

Wow. No kidding. Awesome trailer. No idea whether I'll like the game or not, but it just looked so cool that I want it now.

Ive purchased it. It really requires a pretty beefy PC, as well as Win7 64 bit. Ive played a bit of the beta, it worked but just barely however the full version is supposed to be better optimised. I guess now is the time to switch to a 64 bit os.

Word of warning. This is a SiM. Its very very hardcore, yes there are some assists in the game (like lables without which it would be almost impossible to locate ground targets) but its still very hard to get to grips with the multitude of systems present in this plane.

Once you get in the air the A-10 is a joy to fly. Low level flight is exhilirating and a piece of cake.

Awesome! Thanks for the info,Zoom. Think I remember seeing Glowing Amraam's stuff back when I played IL-2 and Lockon. I love a good sim, I will check out the reviews. Thanks
If you were right, I would be agreeing with you.

As for the video trailer, that was made by Glowing Amraam - a stellar video maker - excellent reputation

Played it in Beta and will be playing it for the next few years.
Just the instant missions so far - the cannon is easy to get things to blow-up. Getting missiles to work is tougher except in Game Mode.
Start-up can be automated with LWIN-HOME - then it clicks through the start-up routine

Like all sims, the more you learn the better it is. This is a leap forward in fidelity - The Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics did contract work for the Defence Dept with access to real data and pilots. They created a simulator used by the Air National Guard - and this is its commercial version. Only the classified stuff is missing.

Campaigns are semi-dynamic - various results will lead to different missions as scripted - variety in esch mission is poossible - the mission designer can use random variables and flags

There is a separate icon for the A-10 Multiplayer - it has a in-game browser. Don`t know if they are going to patch in the older Flaming Cliffs that will allow you to fly some older fast-movers. But Black Shark helio pilots should be patched in later to fly on the same servers.

Word is they are talking to Steam but nothing settled.

First Impressions Thread by people who are flying it

So where is Warthog on steam? This is a shame. DCS Black Shark is out on steam for a long time( http://store.steampowered.com/app/61000/ ). Yet, dcs 110c warthog is NOT out on steam. This needs to be addressed. Thanks for your time.

@FrostDmitry yeah of course your mig-35 could kill an a-10. thats because a-10 is not a fighter it's a ground attack plane. Its designed for air to ground missions. The mig-35 is a fighter. The two are completely different planes.

You want to talk air to air? Try fucking with the AMERICAN F-22 Raptor. it will eat your pussy ass mig-35 and shit it out while our A-10 teabags the fuck out of your ground forces

have a nice day

The Youtube comments area is generally a toilet, but someone always comes along to prove me wrong and restore my faith in humanity.

Heck even the JSF could do it and it's not even a dedicated superiority fighter, it's a multirole fighter that turns like a slug but should theoretically defeat a MiG-35 due to its more advanced stealth suite.

What they need to work on before their next sim is a dynamic campaign system that will operate with their sims.

probably a bad idea. I'd be way out of my depth >.<

It works with the Ka-50 module with some tweaking, so it should work with A-10C as well.

Their next one will be a 'Fixed wing' fighter I read recently. The Apache was on their list of ones further down the road so we gotta keep supporting them for that!

Seeing what they did with the Ka-50, I'm crossing my fingers that they do the AH-64D sometime in the future, preferably with a networking mode so both a pilot and gunner can connect to each other and pilot the same craft.
