Yeah, but stop and think about it for a second. For one, why would he even mention this in any way if it were true but he thought there may be fallout?
For another, Bulletstorm has been in development at least since it was announced in 2008 that EA was publishing a new People Can Fly title. That means it was probably in development in 2007, when PCF's last title came out.
So unless you think Epic is so clairvoyant that they could have planned and begun development of a new property to compete with Killzone 3 two years before Killzone 2 even came out, well...
Honestly, do people here even think things out, or does your hatred of any largeish company or corporation totally cloud your judgment and let you keep fooling yourself into believing things completely impossible to anything not omnipotent? Like I said, it can be both :). They could have easily ramped up development or held back on release to compete with other products. Them releasing a game for competition is could be seen as good business sense, CliffyB just loves trolling people, that's clear from his twitter feed. I don't mean to imply they were just sitting on this WAITING with a garbage game to compete with killzone. |

| Well their recent decision not to release any demo on the PC and then Cliffy's comments to PC gamers should have been pretty obvious how much they care about PC gamers. I don't know why this news is surprising to anyone on here. No PC demo, $59.99 price tag, Cliffy comments on PC grumps, I am surprised they even bother releasing this game on the PC at all. |

And I was looking forward to this game on PC. I think I'll probably pass entirely now. |

Seriously though... I don't understand what all these shooter devs lately are pulling this no editors crap.
Are they totally oblivious to Bethesda?
Morrowind - Included a rich deep editor, sold expansions. Game and expansions sold buttloads
Oblivion - Included a rich deep editor, They sold Expansions and DLC, game, exp, DLC all sold extremely well.
Fallout 3/New Vegas - Exact same story as Oblivion
Seriously these games are GOTYs, sold millions, made millions more in expansions and DLC. You'd think other companies would pick up on this, I guess they are just lazy. |

Gears 3 was slated for a Holiday 2010 release. This was slated for after. There is no possible way your logic works based on that. “The real reason Bulletstorm was built was because Gears wasn't ready for this spring and we needed a product to fuck with Killzone. ;)” -CliffyB
Now granted, he implied he was kidding, but plenty of people say things sincerely and then say they are kidding to avoid fallout, so~ I take that aspect of it with a grain of salt, He seems to love busting the balls of fanboys though so, it could certainly be one or the other. Or both.

Why would they spend resources to release an editor for a console centered game created for the purpose revenue generation in the period before gears of war 3 comes out? Also tools interfere with paid DLC content.

More disappointment. Sounds like it may just be more excuses for dev's to ensure no competition for their over-priced DLC to me. |

I get the feeling like this statement is just stalling for time. Would almost be willing to bet money they somehow turn a 180 on this when they see sales aren't what they hoped.
Shame, really... I agree with DangerDog, an editor for a game like this could be all sorts of twisted fun. |

I can understand locking off the single player portion but to not allow multiplayer mapping and modding is a joke.
You've neither played the demo nor paid attention to how they're doing multiplayer, have you? No PC demo, haven't played it. Watched too many videos of it though, I assume multiplayer will be player hosted games via Games for Windows Live since it's only 4 player, and it's just against waves of enemies. *yawn*
But still, some sort of editor could have opened it up to having some more fun with the game. The game is going to go straight to the bargain bin. |

Well have fun with your stale maps and DLC, Bulletstorm gamers!
The lack of a PC demo kept me away. Too bad, this game had potential for a fun shooter.
I guess there'll always be Duke.... so weird to say that. |
