As you all have heard by now, an early, incomplete build of Crysis 2 has been leaked online. While we are deeply disappointed by these events, we are all completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from you, our community.
Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet!
We appreciate all of your continued support, and look forward to playing online with you soon!

The first post was an official statement by EA. This one was made by a Crytek developer. That should be enough to explain the difference in tone, they weren't written by the same person.
Actually both statements were from Crytek, or at least originated on Crytek's MyCrysis forums.

Secondly I have seen "press start" on a PC game a total of never in my life with a controller not plugged in. Most people leave their controllers plugged in, which games auto-detect now-a-days, and then complain when the game shows controller graphics.
Fion wrote on Feb 14, 2011, 18:52:
Frankly if they care about the PC they can go so far as to remove the 'press start to begin the game' notice at the start.

Soo... like Zork then?

You do know the difference between hating PC gamers and expanding the market to account for lower-than-desired revenue, right? Don't confuse a business decision for a personal insult.

You're a good poster so I figured you weren't being a jerk, but it's a saying as old as the internet itself.
Never failing to document internet crazes, the Encyclopedia Dramatica says that the saying is so old and unfunny that only those eligible for the special olympics still use it, haha.

That link isn't all that work friendly. No nudity, but it's not overly nice...

Wait?
Icewind is getting compliments and people are acting like they've never heard the special olympics comparison?

Maybe I really am insane, because none of this makes sense.
Protip: if you agree with Icewind you're wrong.

The gameplay is indeed 'console centric'. Gone is the sandboxy style of the original (though it wasn't really a sandbox either), replaced tunnels and box shaped open air areas where somehow there is rubble blocking every path accept the one you are supposed to use to advance.
Other things that give away the games obvious 'we want to be CoD with aliens' aspects of the game?
FOV of 55.
No kickback on any weapons.
Lead by the hand gameplay. You don't learn your suit powers yourself but instead they are turned off until the tutorial pops up and 'lets' you use them.
I'm not saying the game is bad. Frankly I only played the first few levels because I don't want to ruin the experience when I get the game (and I am, though not immediately). But it was pretty sad to see what happened to the game. The graphics are nice (though unoptimized) and limited to 'medium' which still actually looks quite nice. But the gameplay is a tunnel shooter modeled almost exactly after Call of Duty. Frankly if there weren't any aliens or a nanosuit it would be hard to tell the difference.
My final 'beta review' would be a score of 75 ('maybe' 80 once it hits) that strives to be what the original game strived to avoid and that is to be a CoD clone. Frankly if not for the simple fact that I can go invisible, sneak around to an enemy placement, grab a guy and throw him into his enemies this game might be a 'wait for the $20 sale in a year' game.
If you enjoyed the first (as I did, I liked that I could approach many fights from a variety of way, this one you have really only one way to fight. If you come out of tunnel A to boxy open area B on a rooftop and there is a box of grenades and all the enemies are clumped together, you basically go with that option because any other would be pointless.
I loved the "sandbox" method of C1. Bit different paths to each objective. You can run and gun or stealth. Long range or up in their face. Personally I liked stealth. Wish the game had throwing weapons (knives and what not) of some kind. Especially with the STR suit option. Tho throwing crates and barrels at bad guys was fun too.
But to quote many others this sounds a lot like just another CoD. Forced direction, play it this way not your way kind of thing.
I will probably enjoy the game or just wait till it comes down in price so my wallet does not yell at me for spending $60 on something that is not that fun.

So Cevat hates PC gamers because we're all pirates and Crysis didn't sell a gazillion bazillion units, now he loves us because PC gaming is important to him?
Make up your mind man! We're waiting here!
