Crytek Responds to Crysis 2 Leak

The Crysis 2 Blog has an official reaction from Crytek to news that a pre-gold build of their upcoming shooter sequel Crysis 2 has leaked onto torrent sites:

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.

Crytek would be wise to move up the release date. Get something up that is for sale because the worst part about this is that it's clear people want to play this game and you can now do that. Get something up that people can play and offer it for sale. Call it an alpha offer or something, charge $39.99 for it. Maybe put the MP game in full for purchase at full price with the condition that the full game will "unlock" on release.

The internet is going to show off everything about your game that you'd use to entice customers to pay. You might as well get something up that people can buy or you're missing out on HUGE publicity for your game.

Your move Crytek, you tripped and fell, now the question is if you can get up and finish strong.

Get something for sale out there.
