Diablo III Art FB Blackmail

The Diablo Facebook Page is looking to up the ante in competing for fans with Blizzard's Warcraft Facebook page. Word is that liking the Diablo page will inspire the release of new screenshots and artwork from Diablo III. Word is: "The Warcraft Facebook page recently hit 1million who 'Like' it and rubbed it in our faces. We know there are millions of Diablo players out there, and to take the fight back we have some incentives all lined up. Beginning at 550,000 'People Like This' of the Diablo Facebook page we'll post new art and screenshots, and for every 25,000 additional page 'Likes' we receive after that up to 1million. Let's do this!" Thanks Blizzplanet.

I can't stand these "X likes = Y" campaigns. I don't even use Facebook but I understand what the "like" function is for and this nonsense completely undermines it.

Remember that one kid on the playground who would try to barter with his friendship? "I'll be your best friend!" Remember how incredibly obnoxious that kid was?

Most hardcore Diablo fans don't have Facebooks because they aren't camwhoring fags.

So sorry you won't be hitting the 1 million, but most longtime Diablo fans who've been online since 1996 know better.

Anyone who has a FB page should be sterilized.

A man sho speaks the truth, deserves a case of two-four, cheers!

Its interesting how most of you are collectively puking all over FB and yet you will all willingly buy this game and register an online account with Blizzard and Battle.net (If you havent done so already) where you will be forced to give out the same information that is required for a facebook registration and where your online battle.net 2.0 "friends" will have access to it. (Minus the pics)

So what exactly is the difference here?

Dunno. I live in Canada. My information isn't for sale, and even if I do have a battle.net account, blizz can't legally sell any of my info anyway, or disclose it to any other party. Boy sure is nice living in a country where the rights of the individual still exist.

/yawn...

I'm looking forward to D3... I enjoyed the others immensely... But holy hell, even if I were hyping like hell to get more info on this shit... I wouldn't 'like' it on FB... I'm on FB... I'm a gamer... I don't care that my future potential employers know I'm a gamer... But there's just no incentive here. New art and screenshots? I reiterate... /yawn...

Also makes me want to go 'like' the competition heh...

Anyhow, it'll get gobbled up, they'll have 3 million likes by the end of the week.. I may look at a new screenie... Or I may just wait for the game to not be years, or at least many many months away...

You are on social media right now. Your boxes are mine! I know you all secretly have a crush on your mother's boyfriend! Oo
If you were right, I would be agreeing with you.

Where do you get the idea that everyone will do that?

Has Blizzard reported huge numbers of player using Battle.net 2.0 for Starcraft 2? Anyone got those number?

It's not what you have to input to join facebook that is the problem, it is the information about you put on it by yourself and your friends that is. imho.

Social media needs a 'Go Fuck Yourself' button.
I know a lot of groups/pages would hit 1mill in no time.
I think it's 'fuck you, I'm not ever considering signing up for this shit'. I can't see a point, desire, or need to join anything like facebook.

My only complaint is that I missed the 'oh please, give me your information so I can sell it forevar! train'

Hey Tanto Edge, me and you should start the anti-social media of FuckOffBook

You start with 10 random friend and you have to find out enough about them to tell them to 'Fuck Off' in a personal hurtful way.

Then you level to a 100 random friends (25 who have leveled too!) and so on.

That's the Activison/Blizzard relationship (deal) with Facebook right there.

I'd rather not start a database about myself that I update that Facebook owns thanks. Power to those who are happy too.

My complaint is more superficial than that, I have a ton of shit up on facebook. I just don't like to be told what to like. And especially not by blackmail, as Blue puts it
