EA Financials, New Shooter Teased

Electronic Arts Q3 FY11 Financial Results are now available. Word is: "We had a solid third quarter with non-GAAP earnings up more than 75% year-over-year," said Eric Brown, Chief Financial Officer. "EA reported 39% growth in digital and is tracking toward our $750 million full year non-GAAP digital revenue target." There were also some revelations in their post-earnings conference call, one, that sales of Dead Space 2 are outpacing the original two to one, and the other that EA is working on a "very exciting" new first-person shooter, as CEO John Riccitiello describes their goal of taking back leadership in the genre: "We've made strong progress in calendar '10 over calendar '09. This year, with the tail-end of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 still doing well and Medal of Honor still doing well... with Crysis and Bulletstorm we're clearly going to make more progress towards our goal and that's before we get to what I think is going to be a very exciting entry later in the year that we're not yet announcing."

I'm sure a Mirror's Edge 2 would push them into the black.
No, because Mirrors Edge 1 was commercially not that successful to have such an influence on even quarterly financials. EA made some money on that game, but not enough to match their expectations. Dead Space was surprisingly quite successful on all plattforms, therefore we have a Dead Space 2 and not a Mirrors Edge 2.

EA keeps lowering itself. While I'm sure garbage like Bulletstorm will make them money they shouldn't be proud in creating garbage for the lowest common denominator of the lazy and the stupid. EA is proof positive they need to be regulated by government because they won't do it themselves.

Seeing you write this in every Bulletstorm post is getting really fucking old. Even more so because it's not even true. Shooters have a long proud history of being over the top...
Either I'm blind or I don't remember you doing this in every single Duke thread.

non-GAAP....so...no salaries, bonuses, benefits, etc....I doubt they are making a profit after paying out ridiculous bonuses to their execs.....

I would rather see a GAAP number...they can make up whatever the hell they want with their magical faux non-GAAP number.....nice try.

This is one of the dumbest things I've seen posted on here. What does Bulletstorm have to do with government regulation? You think that because it is immature that they shouldn't be allowed to make it? And that the government would make things better? Wow.

And since you are showing us non-GAAP earnings to make your company's financials look better, this whole financial announcement is essentially meaningless. Thanks.

You really think the government should step in and force a publisher to pander to the self-proclaimed elite hardcore minority, rather than allow them to make whatever choices they want to appeal to the broadest market possible?
