Out of the Blue

My most recent batch of chili produced more than a gallon of output, but this is gone already, as we brought two quarts to our friends' house last week (which we shared in), and MrsBlue brought a quart to her office to share with coworkers. This is strengthening my resolve to get a pressure cooker so I can make larger batches and home can them, so we don't run out so quickly. One of my younger friends has kidded me that talk of home canning makes me officially old (I'm pretty sure my birth certificate did that already), but I'm looking forward to canning anyway.

I watched the "Homeless man w/golden radio voice in Columbus, OH" clip, then clicked on the Mad Men vs. Firefly link to see at the top of that page a story titled Homeless Man with Radio Voice Offered Free House, Job with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, I just caught that too. Unreal! Yeah, here's hoping it works out for the guy. He seems like a generally nice person that just zigged when he should have zagged.

The Eva Mendes sex tape is cute.

That radio voice dude is SO fucking awesome. He seriously has the most awesome voice ever.

He's now the new announcer for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and you know that somewhere in Hollywood, some exec is kicking himself for not getting the dude as the next Don LaFontaine.

I hope it all turns out well for him. I watched the video last night and was amazed at his voice.

I cannot overstate how brilliant this book is. And it does cover canning too. You can take here 13 week course in Ireland at 1000 per week, or but the book for $30. For any would be chef or foodie this is an essential tool in the kitchen.

Forgotten Skills of Cooking

In this timely new book, Darina reconnects you with the cooking skills that missed a generation or two. The book is divided into chapters such as "Dairy," "Poultry and Eggs," "Bread," and "Preserving," and forgotten processes such as smoking mackerel, curing bacon, and making yogurt and butter are explained in the simplest terms. The delicious recipes show you how to use your homemade bounty to its best, and include ideas for using forgotten cuts of meat, baking bread and cakes, and even eating food from the wild. The "Vegetables and Herbs" chapter is stuffed with growing tips to satisfy even those with the smallest garden plot or window box, and there are plenty of suggestions for using gluts of vegetables. You'll even discover how to keep a few chickens in your backyard. With over 700 recipes, this is the definitive modern guide to traditional cooking skills.

Why am I suddenly having flashbacks to your toilet story from the other day?
