A tweet by David Goldfarb answers a question posed to DICE's lead designer on Battlefield 3 about whether their upcoming military shooter sequel will be a PC exclusive, harkening back to the old days when there were AAA shooters that were not released on consoles. David debunks this exclusivity rumor, but does say the PC edition is receiving "special effort," saying: "it will not be exclusive. We are putting special effort into the pc version, even for us, it's extraordinary."

Actually the difference really isn't that obvious unless you compare side by side. If I brought a Bluray/DVD combo to a friend's house and he told me he only had a DVD player, I really wouldn't mind.

This is basically where I'm coming from.

I think the game Dragon Age Origins on the 360 is a good example, there are lots of times where you are talking up close and the textures don't look very good, but then the screen will drop back a bit and you'll see them farther away and they look fine. That really doesn't get in the way of me enjoying a game, even the interface, which is struggling to make this game work on the console, is fine with me because I don't feel like the game is being held back by it. I just spend a bit more time understanding how to get it to do what I want it to do. Next time I play I want to explore using tactics more often, seems like the micro needed to manage combat would be much easier if I understood how to use each character and how best to setup their automated responses to attacks. I can definitely do that now for my ranger so I'll set up her tactics then I'll start playing with the other characters, i'm guessing I'll spend maybe 10 min, and them I'm back immersed in the universe.

I might play more PC games if they'd design interaces so they can be read easily from farther away. One thing that drives me nuts is that I have a PC in my bedroom and some games are very playable from my chair or even in bed, while others have this insanely small text that I can't read even with glasses and this is because they are designed to be played with your face much closer to the screen. I think I'm 2 feet from my screen right now, but I don't want to play games like this.

I know having huge menu's and such makes a game feel "consolized" but it would be really nice to see more pc games building the interface around a guy sitting in a chair a 10 feet from a TV rather than 2 feet from a monitor.

Someone mentioned that they play PC games from the couch with a lapdesk and I've been meaning to pick one up and give it a shot but if Civ V is a game i've been playing a lot and I have to get pretty close if I want to read most things, luckily you can get by without reading most of what is on the screen but then once in a while you have to look at something closer.

That crtl + thing on web browsers, I love that. It is so nice to be able to browse the web from a comfy chair. Something like that needs to be in PC games. (Maybe I just have a bad chair for my pc...)
