Oh wow so disappointed. Maybe the hyper competitive well balanced multi with antiquated interface is worth it for a lot of people, but so is Jesus and Muhammad. It's actually helped me appreciate Supreme Commander 2 more. How can the media be so wrong? Are they pandering to the cult of blizzard? Even the wing commander bits I was looking forward to come across as half baked and poorly written. It looks and runs worse than Company of Heroes despite having, I imagine, several magnitudes of budget advantage over it.

I might grab this.
Back when SC came out I totally ignored it. I was fairly done with RTS by that point, and any interest I had left was tied up in Total Annihilation. StarCraft, lacking in infinite building queues and waypoints, felt like a huge step backwards in time (even if TA drove me nuts with a poorly-implemented fog of war.)
Maybe I'll try this, but I haven't really played and enjoyed any RTS since TA. As much as I played the crap out of the genre during the mid 90s rise, I really stopped enjoying it at all. |

SC2 was okay. It was certainly polished.
It felt familiar and fun at first and then after a while it felt kind of retreaded. I guess with the old SC I could work on the other race's campaigns when I got bored, but now not so much. I haven't played in forever.
I hope they take more chances with Diablo 3. |

I can see how younger crowd would have a lot of fun with this. Im 30 and I dig it. So do most of my friends. But then again we've been playing RTSes since Dune2. I have a friend who is currently trying to finish the entire SC2 campaign on "brutal" difficulty, quite a feat apparently.
Its definitely a throwback to the old-school RTSes of old. Does that mean its bad? For example I really dig WH40K: Dawn of War 2's multiplayer. Does that preclude me from liking SC2? Why would it?
Sure the story is full of cliche's and the gameplay is more of the same old same old. But it works and its FUN!

I'm guessing blizzard figured that most of them are given away and used up now. |

Back in the late 90s when SC first came out I played the demo and didn't care for it much. I liked C&C a lot more.
But a while back when I bought my GTX 460 it came with a trial of SC2 (trial for buying a graphics card? wtf!? where's my full game!?) and surprisingly I liked it a lot so I bought it for $50 on Amazon (I would not pay $60 so I waited until a deal came along).
The same kind of weird thing happened with Diablo. I played the demo when it came out and thought it was lame yet everyone around me was going crazy over it. Then a few years later when Diablo 2 came out, I gave it another chance and I loved it. I have loved Diablo ever since and I still play Diablo 2 to this day. Mostly single player though.
It's weird how it took so long for me to come around to these games. |

@Half Elf
I'm not much of a whiner, in fact I play a ton of games. My favorite is the Fallout franchise, I'm also playing BF:BC2, & Just Cause 2 right now. I'm just not a big fan of RTS games & especially ones based in sci-fi. Feel free to add me on Steam, I play tons of stuff. But yes my heart is in tactical FPS games. *slower, realistic combat* |
