del Toro's inSANE Trilogy Announced

THQ announces inSANE is the long rumored upcoming video game project from Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro is a trilogy of horror-themed games being developed by Volition, revealing the first chapter will debut in 2013. They also announce THQ and del Toro will collaborate on potential "transmedia projects" surrounding the games. "With this new series of video games, I want to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality," said del Toro. "THQ and Volition, Inc. are equally excited to make this vision of a completely new game universe into a reality." The inSANE Website is online, and this inSANE trailer offers a brief creepy trailer for the game, which is also embedded below.

I'm going to tell the wife tonight that cleaning the garage out will be done as a trilogy of sessions over 5 years starting in 2013.

The only gaming niche smaller than survival horror is Derek Smart games. So, no. In the exact same way I didn't pick up Amnesia, I shan't pick this one up.

But I gotta say, he's a damn talented director. Pan's Labyrinth was freaky and disturbing as hell.

I know it's del Toro, but it still feels optimistic to "announce" a trilogy.

The survival horror genre / horror genre could certainly use some more good games. Del Toro makes some pretty freaky movies. I'll keep my eye on it.
