What I don't like about the moves is that they can move you as a guild or as an individual...but they don't offer the ability to move you as an account for a much reduced price.
So unless you take the time to put all your characters in a guild and request that guild be moved you can't keep your characters together without a lot of luck/patience/money. When I pick a server I like to play all my characters on the same server so I can share stuff between them and pick up tradeskills on each that complement my goals.
This is one of the big reasons I quit WoW a few years ago, I got tired of the PVP server I started on due to friends...it just wasn't fun being randomly ganked and corpse camped especially when I didn't have a badass 70 at the time to shoo them off. And by the time my friend got burnt out, I had setup a little one man operation with a lot of tradeskill near max on all my chars. And I wanted to move, I had my own little guild where all of my alts were in it and my main was the only one not in it....had him in raiding guilds.
This was when they had more restrictions on where you could move to and how you could move. But that was what ultimately made me stop playing, I was tired of the PVP server and didn't feel like the idea of leaving all my work behind to move to another non-PVP server. And that is what keeps me from trying it out now, I don't want to try the game out on a PVP server and I don't want to spend 200-ish dollars moving my guys to try it. |

At that point, I don't think you can call them friends. Anyway, it's more for tactical reasons by both Blizzard and players. If a realm is getting packed, customers will complain about a queue. Transfers help keep that from happening. My guild transferred back in the day because our server was "dying". A lot of people were quitting but there were little new players or transfer to fill the gap. That made raiding less likely, BG queues longer, and auction houses more useless. However, I still regret transferring with them, because they had already formed their little elitist group. Meanwhile, my actual friends(on teh interwebs) stayed. Oh well, that was almost 4 years ago now. Good times, though.
Side note: I'll never understand why people hate WoW or people that play it a ton. I played it something like 7 hours a day at one point, and that was with school in full swing too. Yeah I sort of got out of shape, but I had so much fun. I was playing because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Instead, now I play FPS a few hours or less a day. The only difference is that I can drop my FPS game whenever I want, but in WoW I didn't want to let down guildmates/friends. I have no idea where I am going with this so I'll stop now... |

Indeed. Blizzard charges $25, per character, to transfer realms. They make a lot of money on this alone. |

The Worgen start was pretty sweet. Too bad it only goes to level 12. i was hoping it'd be going all the way to 20. Love the underwater zone! Been waiting for something like that in a MOG forever! More games need to utilize underwater! |

| Not to mention the Goblin starting areas are AWESOME. Nice to see Horde getting the 'up' side of this expansion. |
