In Oblivion I got so tired of the game after a billion side-quests that I never finished the main quest. But I don't knock the game for that - I got way more than my $50 worth playing those side quests alone. 80 hours or so.

Fallout 3 was close to it - I noticed I was getting tired of plowing through every empty building just to see what there was to see - so I plowed through the main mission instead.

Let's be honest here, the main missions of these games are like 8 hours. When you start getting fatigued just move to them and get through. Or don't. The main missions aren't usually any more fun than the better side missions, or than just doing your own thing. They just have cut scenes and plot, often ones that don't matter much.
