They're also selling items you need to be successful in PVP in the cash shop and it seems the game has favored PVP over PVE now.

I really have no interest in returning at this point. The game was fun for a bit when it came out but combat is essentially the same turning and shooting battle over and over and really I could get that playing Sid Meier's Pirates! for free.

That's a damn shame. The ship based combat was great, fleet actions rocked, and I just quit the game originally because the swordplay sucked balls.

Sounds like they took what was fun and kind of screwed it over. That was the only game I've ever level capped on playing mostly PVE grinding.
