From what I understand they removed high-end ships, basically the equivalent of your tiered epics in that other game, because too many PVP kiddies QQ'd about getting sunk by them rather than coming up with strategies to combat them.

They're also selling items you need to be successful in PVP in the cash shop and it seems the game has favored PVP over PVE now.

I really have no interest in returning at this point. The game was fun for a bit when it came out but combat is essentially the same turning and shooting battle over and over and really I could get that playing Sid Meier's Pirates! for free.

That's a damn shame. The ship based combat was great, fleet actions rocked, and I just quit the game originally because the swordplay sucked balls.

Sounds like they took what was fun and kind of screwed it over. That was the only game I've ever level capped on playing mostly PVE grinding.

To be honest... no F2P game has topped LOTRO. For $50 I bought all the content packs so essentially the whole game is free to play for me, forever. It's a bit like Guild Wars in that respect, everything else on the store is fluff and can be obtained in game.

Yes, it's like all the other free mmos: it's free until you need a game to play.

Is this game even worth play for free?
