.plan to Tweet

Ryan Gordon's .plan may offer the final nail in the coffin for the .plan file as a way of conveying game news, as the Linux developer also known as icculus points the way to his Twitter feed for his updates. Other than icculus, the most recent developer .plan update we have is an update by id's Timothee Besset on Groundhog Day 2007.

It all started with QuakeFinger.

Yeah...I stopped tweeting or even reading tweets because they are just too short to say anything meaningful. The Forums are where the action is...at least that's where the fans are, unfortunately, developers keep ignoring that fact and just tweet. And, with tweets so short they aren't stimulating any new customers or at the very worst are confusing them and putting them off the games.

I'd agree but it should be presented differently. .plan files were updated infrequently and each generally held significant value (if said dev was relevant to you). Tweets, not so much.
Exactly. Twitter posts are so short that people don't feel bad writing worthless posts. It's not a very good replacement for .plan files, which were almost always longer and definitely more better composed.

Perhaps presentation should be the say the most recent 5 entire tweets from a list of "significant people",

Yes, this will be great.

perhaps customisable

You know some things should just remind private. Like telling people you plan to tweet. I mean really now. Do we all need to know this?

How convenient, just signed up for Twitter last night. Is indeed useful for site news, special interest updates and site news. Oh and Paris Hilton went out with the girls and had a great time btw.

Blue,
I am a huge .plan updates fan on bluesnews, as you may recall, but maybe it's time to switch to important twitter accounts on blues news as a side panel?

carmack, epic, and now icculus, it begs the question..

Carmack's updates used to be awesome. He went fairly technical into various design decisions and critiques of technology.

140 line twitters don't really give us anything I care about.
