Tenacious D at BlizzCon

Blizzard announces Tenacious D will play the closing concert at BlizzCon 2010, Blizzard's imminent game convention, calling Jack Black's and Kyle Gass' outfit "the greatest band in the world, attributing that acclaim to "internal reports from Tenacious D and key band devotees." Word is: "While tickets to the convention are currently sold out, viewers can watch at home by ordering a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, offering over 50 hours of event coverage (including Tenacious D’s performance) globally over the Internet and also on DIRECTV® in the United States."

Why, how is it different than paying for anything else that is considered a luxury?

Paying 50 dollars to watch other people party and have fun isn't a luxury.

Unless you're that much of a basement-dweller troglodyte.

FTFY.

I think you misunderstand what I meant, I am calling it a luxury because it is not a necessity, the only necessities in life are food and shelter. I bet if I come to your shelter right now I'll find a lot more than just food. I also bet I could find quite a few things in your life that you have spent money on that do not have a single redeeming quality other than they make you happy, for however brief a time.

Sounds like someone bought a $25 mount for WoW.

Read again, I basically said I have.

Personally, I would rather watch 50 hours of Blizzard news, tournies, and shows (costume contest, concerts) and pay $40 for it than 3 hours of professional wrestling for $40.

I'd rather pay $40 to be kicked in the nuts than have to pay $40 for either of those.

I'll openly mock WWF fans, too. No different than Juggalos, who I'll mock.
We're talking lowest common denominator entertainment here. If this is what you need to compare Blizzcon footage to in order to make it sound good...

Hey, I recorded myself singing in the shower. Sure, it's awful, but I'd bet you'd rather pay $12 for this than a Nickelback CD!

Don't forget about the 2 guys in their underwear, circling around on a mat, trying to give each other a concussion, until one of them can't stand up any more. That ones always fun!

Right, and paying a cable bill so you watch other people party at sporting events like bowl games makes you a basement dweller too, right? Right?

Are we comparing a cable subscription with 50 hours of webcammed convention?

They have TV cameras, not webcams. Just like sporting events. It's also in HD.

Does it matter when in both cases you're sitting on your ass?

Well I'm talking about dollar value per entertainment unit here.

Oh in that case, you'd better strt making fun of those movie-goers. 10 bucks for a 1.5 hours movie? 50 hours for 40 is way better.

Oh, I see.

I was referring to the content, and how one person's dislike doesn't mean that everyone doesn't care for it.

I'd love to have a list of things owned by Sepharo and Beamer. I'm sure we could laugh and laugh until the end of time. That is, if we wanted to be pricks like Beamer and Sepharo.

When did I say I was above being laughed at for buying stupid shit?
We all do.

It drives me nuts when people think we can't laugh at the stupidity of others or even ourselves.

I don't like DLC. I need only point to Mafia 2 as an example of what DLC can do to a game. Obviously it can be done right but it still detracts from something that could have been in the game or a better valued and longer expansion pack later down the line.

I feel that people who spend $25 on a mount or $30 on a map pack or $50 to watch a fuckin' web cammed convention could possibly be ruining it for the rest of us.

Proud unicorn owner right here folks.

You're such a cool kid! Wow, I am stunned at your wit!

Eh, if WoW is your life and you couldn't score a Blizzcon ticket, I'm sure this is perfect.

To each his own, I for one think anyone who pays good money to go see would-be KFC drive-through operators play around with balls/pucks is a douchebag. And yet that's a global bazillion dollar industry.

JB is so done. I can see it now:

"Ladies and gentlemen, lets give a holla for Tenacious D"

And the entire crowd shouts in unison "Whoooo" because they are incapable of uttering any other sounds that they hadn't heard on the internet before. Nice Clone Society.
