Out of the Blue

Walking back to the house from the car after dropping MrsBlue at the train I took a shortcut across the lawn between a pair of trees, and I managed to catch a spider-web across the face. Now this has happened to me a lot, as for years the spiders have ignored my pro-arachnid stance and have created many a web at head height in an effort to make a meal of me, but today was a full-on giant spiral web that covered my head entirely, which is a little creepy, especially when considering the size of the spider that would have crafted such a trap, though luckily I couldn't find him anywhere on my person.

Haha you two sound like me... Rarely get more than a runny nose, generally just use sick days as vacation days.

Not always, just occasionally when they get bad symptoms.

I used to pride myself on never taking sick time. I went about 15 years without taking a day off due to illness. However, now a days I figure those sick days are given to me as employee for a reason. So, I try to use them up -- although I only get 5 sick days per year with no carryover.

Your mates take off work from colds? Pussies. I had a bad cold two weeks ago and the week after that conjunctivitis. SUCK IT UP. REMAIN PRODUCTIVE.

Yeah, after talking about at lunch with some friends, we reached a consensus this doctor probably needs her license pulled. We feel pretty confident in saying cold symptoms are the body's immune system in overdrive after it has failed to defeat the virus prior to then. A robust immune system will defeat the virus prior to those steps being necessary. This makes much more sense.

Personally, I do get colds. However, I rarely have severe symptoms. Often colds that cause office mates to be home sick in bed a day or two will just make me go through a box of tissues. I also (AFAIK) have only had influenza once in the past 40 years -- only having been immunized against flu in the 7 years I was in the USAF.

Wear this on your walks problem solved.
The kids will think your the "skizzel", dogs will fear you, Mrs Blue will probably ask you to wear it to bed some nights.

From the article on wind farms....
Now, research published in PNAS indicates that wind farms can also impact the local air temperature in a significant manner, and this must be taken into account to avoid unintended consequences.

WTF!? So - are they saying in the same way a tree would? I call BS on this.

Link to research: (lots of could or maybes in there)

Sounds like this lady is just cherry picking facts to support her amazing claims. She seems to contradict herself by saying some people catch cold and produce anti-bodies without ever having symptoms. Which is kind of opposite to her whole thesis of STRONG IMMUNE RESPONSE = STRONG IMMUNE SYSTEM. Allergies can trigger a strong immune response, I'm not sure many would say having allergies = awesome immune system.

I can attest to the drunk thing, I've seen numerous people overreact to things when drunk (often things they'd find humors when sober) and I've done it once myself. Felt like a dumbass the next day, and now I monitor my emotions much more stringently when I'm intoxicated. Nobody likes and angry drunk.
