I agree with the main argument - why would anyone pick up a "fun" weapon instead of a functional one? I finally got L4D2 last night, though. Hey, check it out, 2 weapon limit. Did anyone complain about this, too? Definitely a similar reason for it. Granted, it's less frustrating, as the series doesn't have a multi-weapon history, there's less weapon variety, and shortcomings from picking up a less-general weapon can be made up via teamwork (although, since I'll probably only play with bots, things like the grenade launcher are virtually useless to me.)
Still, it's definite consolidation that I don't remember people complaining about.
