I had that WRT54 before it was all popular and the wifi broadcast up and died in like 3 months.
Is manufacturing a reliable router that difficult? Apparently it is. I shopped around and there isn't a single "goto" router besides that (ancient) WRT54. Every router out there now is shrouded in supposed performance issues or software defects. |

| This is a special WRT54 the WRT54GL. Special because it is an old version of the router before it became less reliable also it is easier to upgrade the firmware than with newer models. I swear the newer models have self destruct timers so as to force you to buy a new one every few years. How else would they make money? Is manufacturing a reliable router that difficult? |

I had a Linksys WRT54 once upon a time. When it died I replaced it with a Netgear unit. It's been perfectly fine for a couple of years now. |

I'm hooked directly into the cable modem.
But here's what I bought for my parents who have suffered through multiple bad routers for years.

It's won the customer's choice award 39 times...
I also threw some custom firmware on there. Yes it is a good router to hack into....39 minutes tops!

You mean you want the modem model #?
I then have 2 levels of firewalls behind it......so - I am glad it was failing on their end. |

Wow. So I was having issues over the past couple weeks with packet loss and various weird hangups on pages and gaming. So I call Comcast while doing a ping -t test and showing about 25% packet loss....
Of course they give you "well I don't see any issues in your area"...."oh your signal just degraded"...."we can schedule someone out this week".
NO thanks.
Went and dropped off the old router, got a new one, fired it up. I now get 2x the speed I was previously getting from a 6 year old router.
Awesome. I should have known better and recycled my hardware every 2 eyars they way they change this stuff.
Looking at about 24Mbps. Not going to complain. |

Hahaha, I love this. Sun Chips are reverting to their old bags for 5/6 of their flavors. Apparently they've received too many complaints regarding the noise level generated by their new 100% compostable bags.
This is pathetic on two levels:
1. People are SO FUCKING LAZY they can't POUR THE FUCKING CHIPS OUT OF THE BAG to eat them
2. People are SO FUCKING FICKLE about snack packaging they'd choose one with a greater environmental footprint than one that makes some crackling noises |

DangerDog wrote on Oct 5, 2010, 16:18: They need to stop retelling the origin of Superman and just get to the action As the superhero movie genre matures I think the art of not dwelling too long on origins has gotten better and better, perhaps peaking with the Dark Knight, which leaves the Joker's origin out altogether.
I'd also not try to develop any romance with Lois. Romancing Lois is an integral part of the Supes story.
What needs to be avoided is magical power removal to impregnate Lois while avoiding the "Man of Steel/Woman of Kleenex" paradox, followed by amnesia caused by time-reversal (caused by altering the Earth's orbit) to result in a super-boy with asthma.
God, I just threw up a bit in my mouth just typing that out.
That's some bad crap, Harry! |

I don't think Brandon Routh was a bad Superman, but the costume design change looked like he fell into a vat of oil, all dingy and darkened colors. The story was pitiful as well, Superman as a peeping-tom?
They need to stop retelling the origin of Superman and just get to the action, I'd also not try to develop any romance with Lois. |
