I like it, it has some pretty unique features (housing, heritage quests) and everybody loves shinies! Also it is very mature and has loads of content, though I would stay to the new Golden Path content because some of the older stuff (the stuff from before any of the expansions) can be a bit tedious.

Haha. I hope that one works for the free one when I try it (whenever that is and not any time soon).

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Sorry out of ideas if you tried to Log in on Station and/or Register on the Extended Create a Account with your account and that isn't working. They must changed the system and download. It was easy before, you maybe have to call Customer Service.

Ant how about this, download the game and install when you log in use your normal Station Account. This should allow you to access the F2P server.

Guess we are all saying, don't expect too much and we all seem to agree LotR is much much better.

Edit
This is what I remember us doing, it's been several weeks. Hope it answers your question, otherwise I am confused.
Sure, but where is the game client to download? I didn't see its link.

Ant, pretty sure you have to start a new toon on the Extended Live Sever, which I believe there is only one. There were many subscribers playing there when I tried it the first weekend. There were even some who payed to have one of their toon's transferred over.

As a former EQ2 player, who was thrilled to give it a try if only out of nostalgia, I found it an utter fail. All the new people they are trying to attract, can't use even Zone Chat for getting groups much less any other higher level Chat. Secondly they can NOT use the Marketplace, for buying or selling, period. This means that all those subs paying to have their 85 level toons transferred over who craft for example, can't get business from F2P players, only other Subs, which they can get on any other server.

Ok now comes to the good part, even if you pay the full monthly of $15 per month you still DON'T get all the normal benefits of being a Sub on any other server. I can't recall atm, but they withhold some of the Races or Classes even if you pay the full monthly.

Good Luck, becasue it sucks.
Acleacius, I never played EQ2 before though. I have Sony Station account from other games like EQ1, SW:G, etc.

And yeah, it (EQ2) has aged horribly. Visually its just fugly. Now I'm playing LOTRO and its one of the prettiest virtual places I've ever seen.

^This. I wasn't going to post it since I didn't want to appear biased, but this is all exactly what I found.

Basically, if you're looking for a F2P fantasy MMO, LOTRO is easily the best I've seen and easily beats EQ2 or pretty much anything else out there.

Yeah I was just playing the last 2 months and the cons definitely outweigh the pros with this game. SOE is the number one problem. They're so cheap they never want to give anything away so its not like you get anything for your monthly fee ever. Their microtransactions are ridiculously overpriced on everything. $13 for a cloak. $25 for a mount? LOL! Their F2P model compared to Turbine is utter shite. Then again so is just about every other F2P model I've seen so far. And the servers are friggin empty. They desperately need a lot of server mergers, which SOE won't do because they see it as bad PR. Meanwhile, from 1 to level 50, I'd be lucky to see 3 or 4 people in the same zone. So you could never group or do any of the harder stuff because no one was around. And yeah, it's aged horribly. Visually its just fugly. Now I'm playing LOTRO and its one of the prettiest virtual places I've ever seen.

This is retarded. Live players are on other servers separate from monthly subbers.

Hi!

I already have a Sony account, but cannot seem to find a way to get the free EQ2 Extended Live. Am I missing something? It wants me to sign up even though I logged in! Or do I have to make a new account just to do this?

Thank you in advance.

P.S. I posted in http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2x/posts/list.m?topic_id=2694 as well, but so far no replies.

I gave EQ2X a shot when it came out, and was pretty disappointed. I didn't think the game had aged very well. It's a shame.
