I'm still holding out hope that they'll make a JAWS 19 in 3D. If anyone ever rereleased Jaws 3D in 3D I'd see it.
OMG! LOUIS GOSSETT, JR IS COMING RIGHT AT MY FACE!
Incidentally, if I ever overhear the same thing from someone watching 3D porn I'm offing myself. |

Ray Marden wrote on Sep 29, 2010, 18:03: Now as for the movies themselves, I think I am fine passing on them - especially the "new" trilogy. I used to really, really love Star Wars, but after having been whored out so blatantly by Lucas, I certainly don't have the love for it that I once did. It's really sad, but I feel the same way. I look at my old Star Wars stuff and even the movies with a wistful "I used to love this stuff" and then move on to something else now...and I loved it well into adulthood. By the time the 2nd prequel rolled around I felt like I was going to see it because I was a fan and I should do that, and when the third finally hit I saw it and that was the end of it. It was done and I was done with it, too.
I'm not even sure when it hit me that I never felt like I outgrew all of it, but that Lucas had turned to the dark side along with his prequel character... he wasn't interested in us. He already had us, and he knew we'd buy what he was selling, so he designed it to rope in our children as well. Unfortunately (or fortunately for us, maybe?) he didn't do a great job of it and some people lost their glamour long enough to wonder just what the hell he was doing.
It takes a bit of corruption and greed to turn something you love, from the very idea of it to the emotion it instills in you, and turn it bitter in your mouth for years to come.
I'm done being suckered by the movies and disc releases and re-releases. The only people who still seem to have any grasp anymore of what Star Wars is and was are a select few game designers still trying to show everyone that it shouldn't be forgotten.

Anybody that didn't see this coming is clueless.
Now as for the movies themselves, I think I am fine passing on them - especially the "new" trilogy. I used to really, really love Star Wars, but after having been whored out so blatantly by Lucas, I certainly don't have the love for it that I once did.
Every now and then I'll stumble onto the "original" triology and I can watch it for a bit - I remember how fun they were and what a neat world it is - but that all goes away when I see the newer films, the garbage on Cartoon Network, and all the shovelware that is out there (multiple releases, the various crappy games, all the plastic junk, etc.) Clearly Lucas was not what made the original films so good. Possibly picking up the Blu-Ray release; otherwise done with the franchise, Ray |

I like Star Wars, but I'm not very excited about seeing it in gimmicky 3D. C'mon. If you're going to do more Star Wars movies, make NEW Star Wars movies - preferably with somebody besides Lucas doing the writing. And the directing. Sadly, I think we will probably have to wait until GL passes on to that great Death Star in the sky before we see another Star Wars movie, esp one well done.
Also, if you're going to do 3D, I think making the movie 3D from scratch from the beginning is the way to go, a la Avatar. Say what you want about the story, but the 3D in that movie added to the immersion.
I think SW in normal 2D Bluray will be the way to go for me. |

| 3D reminds me of those 360 degree camera shots they did in the Matrix for the first movie, only a lot worse. It was cool at first, but right after that, they were everywhere and overused. 3D is the same way. I enjoyed Avatar in 3D, but after seeing a few other movies, I try to find 2D movies now. The latest Resident Evil was a good example of over-used 3D. Every fucking frame had to have something obvious and 3D. It's like the director had a 3D button and wouldn't stop pushing it. |

Can anyone say they honestly didn't expect 3D Star Wars to happen?
I'm sure after the very first "special edition" in 1997 people were already sarcastically saying "Can't wait for Star Wars Special Edition 3D!" |
