The Sacrifice for L4D/L4D2 Next Month

Valve announces release details for The Sacrifice, saying the DLC is due for release on October 5 as separate dowloads for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. The PC editions will be free, while the Xbox 360 editions will be 560 MS points for each game. Here's word on the two different versions:

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead 1 gamers receive the complete Sacrifice campaign with maps playable in Campaign, Versus, and Survival.

In The Sacrifice for Left 4 Dead 2 owners receive "The Sacrifice" campaign playable with the Left 4 Dead Survivors. In addition, those with Left 4 Dead 2 receive L4D's "No Mercy" campaign. Both campaigns are playable in Campaign, Versus, Survival, and Scavenge modes and both will feature the Left 4 Dead 2 Special Infected, items, and weapons. Yes, Zoey with a chainsaw!

Versus Realism is the best mode for us, it speeds up the rounds quite a bit.
That only works if you play with friends, or a set of people who know WTF they are doing. Since I usually join pub matches, that doesn't happen too often with me. If I have a decent team I like vs realism, but otherwise I don't.

L4D1 will always be my favorite Valve game. TF2 was great until they screwed it up with the new upgrades. Sorry, I don't have time to hit the achievement servers. L4D2 is bunk for the same reason...the silly new weapons ruin it for me. Oh, how I miss the fear the Tank used to put into my soul in NM.

That's because scavenge isn't viable as a long-term mode of play. L4D2 was a fun little distraction on and off for a couple months but my heart lies with TF2.

I much prefer it over any other l4d2 game mode. Campaigns are boring to me. Versus is 2 hours, and scavenge is 90% of the fun of vs squeezed into 15 mins.

So I disagree. I think the reason its harder to find scavenge players is because L4D2 players as a whole are dropping out. Its almost 1/3rd less than TF2 right now. Whats funny is that MW2 has now dropped down below the all time kings, counter strike games.

The sad thing is that CS used to be better. I still play and like CS, but I miss me some beta 5.2 something fierce. There aren't any games that really take it's place, as Call of Duty is too console-esque, Battlefield is a completely different genre, and Urban Terror picked the wrong engine.

I do think that Action Quake 2 would be great and well received remade on an engine simulating the same physics(not the crappy AHL version).

Left 4 Dead 2 shouldve been an expansion...

Yep....I love Valve..but they did stick it to us with this game!

Yep. They actually promised (going as high as gabe newell himself) that we'd get more free content than TF2, and faster. We'd get more special infected badguys, more characters, and more weapons added in DLC to l4d1.

Obviously, once they started getting all that stuff ready for DLC they decided to sell it all as a new game exactly 1 year later. Which I wouldn't have much of a problem with, except for the promises other wise. Plus it decimated and divided the l4d community. On that note, its getting hard to find scavenge players in the l4d2 community.

Hopefully they updated some sections of No Mercy for L4D2. Whatever the case, I look forward to giving it a try.

This makes it sound like you can only use the L4D1 survivors in L4D2 on this specific campaign only,
Its EXACTLY what it says: L4D1 survivors only on The Sacrifice and No Mercy campaigns in L4D2.

Left 4 Dead 2 shouldve been an expansion...
