Releasing a title on Steam isn't magically cheap or something. Steam takes it right out of your sales and having your title on Steam doesn't make the need for QA and support disappear either. Is it cheaper than retail distribution? Unquestionably it is. Is it the silver bullet to all problems in the gaming industry? No it isn't. SF4 is on Steam already and that hasn't helped.

These guys have blamed many factors in the past, I'm not surprised to see piracy being blamed now. I think the point many people are ignoring is that perhaps there isn't a large market for fighting games on the PC. It's traditionally been an arcade/console market due to the practical need for analog inputs and the PC have no standardized analog input. If anything I think they are stupid for releasing it on Steam and just magically expecting a market to materialize and buy their game.
