Brian Wood Memorial Fund

The Brian Wood Memorial Trust is now active, following the death of Relic designer Brian Wood in an act of heroic self-sacrifice. The fund is accepting donations for Wood's widow Erin and her unborn child, as word is: "Thank you so much for your kind support, prayers and well wishes for Erin and the baby following the tragic loss of her husband, Brian Wood. In memory of Brian, a memorial trust has been set up to help Erin and her family through this difficult time." Thanks loonyboi via Kotaku.

I hope they send those assholes responsible to prison for life
Yeah, that will return Mr. Wood back to life AND it prevents further drug induced car accidents, totally!

Well one would hope it would be an effective deterrent but unfortunately the nature of drug use includes impaired judgment. A life sentence doesn't seem appropriate but I would think something pretty close is warranted in this case. They robbed a family of their father which is a massive emotional and financial burden, something that some families never fully recover from. The punishment should be appropriately severe.

Don't have any sources handy and I'm too lazy to look, but I think there's evidence that, after a point, threat of punishment is no longer a deterrent. You get most people to stop doing a thing with a threat of something not-very-severe, and for everyone else... no additional threat does anything.

At which point you just need to take them out of society altogether, because they have shown that they cannot conduct themselves as an even semi-responsible human being.
