Here is the list of ALL the missions in Mafia 2, however most of them were cut. Expect a lot of DLC.

I'm willing to bet that most of these mission names aren't for planned DLC, but instead for the Betrayal of Jimmy DLC that shipped with PS3 copies; I've only played a couple of the missions in that DLC so far.

I'm still totally with the game I purchased. It's not perfect, but it's damn good, and I suspect I'll be replaying it once I'm done.

If the DLC is meaty enough, I'll consider it, but I don't feel like I'm missing anything from my purchase.

If its a good game "out of the box" so to speak who cares what was cut and how much of it is part of some future DLC.

DLC's are a ripoff in my opinion but I was spoiled by free after release content and patches in the 90's so I might be a bit jaded on that point.

I guess the point Im trying make is that successful games get sequels, expansions and yes DLCs. Unsuccessful games get none of that shit. If a game sucks out of the box you can bet your ass very few people will jump on the DLC bandwagon in adition to us few who never buy DLCs anyway.

I picked that one because they introduce this storyline in ME2 but don't resolve it. If I recall correctly in ME and ME2 they close most if not all of the plots, missions, etc, so to me it was rather suspicious they left this one, with one of the main characters from ME, who has a lot of fan interest, unresolved.

There is also the fact that audio hinting about this storyline is already in the games files. http://tinyurl.com/y2h98aw I looked at the files they describe in the article in my ME2 folder and it shows a last modified date of Dec 16, 2009. I think BioWare might have been fibbing a touch if they stated they only started working on it after ME2 came out.

It's a fantasy world you live in if you think every idea or plan for a game should make it in or else content was unfairly cut. Every game ever has cut content, these things can't be developed forever. I would actually say one of the most important things for a good game is early cuts and realistic content expectations to allow for polish.

The important thing with DLC is: "was the game full and complete at release?" I think in the case of Mass Effect 2 this is an unquestionable "YES."

In the case of Mafia 2 I get why people would be annoyed at early DLC, since the game is only 14 hours long and has no side content at all (and since my collector's edition that I paid $60 for dared to have an ad for the freaking DLC inside it). Mass Effect 2 though is over 50 hours if you do everything, and felt full and complete at launch.

There are literally dozens of these between games. They also don't even include 2 stories with other romance interests.

Doesn't mean anything, that just means when the timestamp was affixed. Every game has cut content, it's nothing new. Some stuff is just ideas and roughly implemented at best while other stuff just couldn't make it in time for certification.

Don't get me wrong, it happens. The industry wants more revenue streams with the consumer so of course they're going to do this. Gaming is a big commercial entity and has been for awhile now, its only natural as corporations get involved that they are going to stretch things as far as they can. It sucks but its the way it is. I don't really buy DLC anymore but unfortunately a shitload of other people do, gamers in general have zero purchase standards and seem to operate on a "ooh new, bust out wallet" purchase procedure.

If memory serves me right, the controls for Worms Reloaded are pretty much identical to the controls for Worms Armageddon. My only real gripe with Worms Reloaded is that they still design the front-end UI for 6-year-olds on an Xbox. Everything has to be scrolled through instead of drop-down menus.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit, but to each his own.

The linearity of Mafia 2 makes me wish there was a Mafia RPG, where you could choose which family you align yourself with and who you trust and betray. So much potential there. The whole mob genre really centers around choice and consequence so it would be perfect for an RPG.

Take this with as humongous a barrel of salt as you'd like, but...

Large majority of missions cut in Mafia II?

Creston

does that even matter anymore? in general people are eating it up - they are bending right over for this and loving every minute.. "oh the game is AWESOME! its the BEST EVER! omg its the ULTIMATE!"

sooooooo... i imagine the general argument is "who cares?? i got my less than 10 hours worth and it was AWESOME! the BEST EVER! ULTIMATE! bring on more of this AWESOMENESS!!!! i will pay you anything"

its just that standard practice of exploitative conditioning, continuing as always

personally i think its bullshit and ethically wrong.. but people have a very sliding scale of ethics when it comes to their own personal bank account - for instance, "its totally wrong for you to pirate my game.. but totally right for me to double or triple dip on your purchase price."

sorry, sport - go fuck yourself

Go forth, and kill!

The upcoming Shadow Broker DLC for ME2 reeks of "we stripped this out of the game because we think a lot of people will buy it". With trends like this its almost worthwhile holding off the the "Super Duper" edition which contains the full game.

I mean you have a point but why would you pick that particular DLC out of everything? They didn't even start working on it until later on and its largely in response to fan requests on the forums. Now the Hammerhead on the other hand was actually removed from the game shortly before launch and added in later as DLC.

Yeah sadly more and more games are heading down this road. My guess is now when they design a game they decide which content/features they can strip out and sell later and which will be enough to get you to buy the game.

The upcoming Shadow Broker DLC for ME2 reeks of "we stripped this out of the game because we think a lot of people will buy it". With trends like this its almost worthwhile holding off the the "Super Duper" edition which contains the full game.

The world of Mafia2 begs for more content - more interaction with the highly-detailed world with a free-roam sandbox mod or DLC.

COME ON - DON'T WASTE IT!

Meh... it's a linear story, side-missions don't make sense.

You can have both a linear main story and standalone side-missions. That's what other open-world games do, along with every RPG ever made. In the context of Mafia, the side-missions could be random tasks that your boss provides. There are several cinematic montages that show these random tasks. I don't see why they couldn't be turned into actual missions, especially given the game's lengthy development cycle.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Mafia 2. However, the lack of side-missions is still disappointing.

However, I do agree that the lack of side-missions is disappointing. I'm pretty sure the original game had at least a few side-missions, whereas Mafia 2 has absolutely none. They made a huge, wonderfully detailed city but didn't give you much to do it in aside from the main story missions.

Meh... it's a linear story, side-missions don't make sense. 14 hours is plenty of gameplay and the city is there to enrich the experience (and it does a great job of that).

Also the only side-missions the original had were the favors you do for Lucas to get more cars and there's only like three of them, all of which are quick and pointless.
