Left 4 Dead 2 Patched

Steam News outlines a new patch that's now automatically available for Left 4 Dead 2, Valve's zombie shooter sequel. Included is the return of the "Last Man on Earth" single-player mutation, which is detailed in the Left 4 Dead Blog. The full patch notes follow.

Mutation

Developer Choice - Last Man On Earth

Added vote option to enable All Talk in Versus.
Added vote option to Restart Chapter in Versus.
Added the ability in the lobby for all players to vote on starting the game.

Gameplay

Removed Defibs and First Aid Kits in Realism Versus. Survivors start with a First Aid Kit, but all world spawns are disabled.

Addons

To avoid conflicts between Community Campaigns, only content vpks get loaded when starting a campaign.
Added console command "show_addon_load_order" that prints out the order of loaded vpk files.

Authoring Tools

VPK files now support their own sound.cache file.
Use the command "snd_buildsoundcachefordirectory " to create the sound.cache file that you should include when you create your vpk file.

With it being a single player only mode, why can't they leave Last man on Earth in the game full time?

Wait, so they thought realism vs wasn't hard enough? Added vote option to enable All Talk in Versus. Added vote option to Restart Chapter in Versus. Added the ability in the lobby for all players to vote on starting the game. When it says all players vote for start, I hope that means that one AFK can't ruin the vote. If 1 afk can't ruin the vote, this fixes the freaking annoying AFK lobby leader (come on valve, thats been a problem since l4d1 and thats been what, almost 2 years now?). If 1 afk CAN ruin that start vote, then omg get your crap together already valve! Edit: Its a simple majority vote. So good, that takes care of AFK leaders. However, lemme guess, this along with the tank fixes WONT be applied to L4D1 since valve has basically abandoned it. This comment was edited on Aug 21, 2010, 02:09.

Agreed.

I also like the Chapter Restart Vote option. This could come in handy for disconnects and such, at least in friendly clan games. Can't speak much for the generally disastrous public games.
