I didn't say "all," I said "some." You said 'a lot', which implied you were talking about pretty much everyone. You were trying to shove as many people here as you could into a box.
And there's really a lot of room between "quieter" and "adrenaline pumping." Sitting for 10 minutes while a battle plays itself out, on 4x speed nonetheless, isn't really just "quieter." Especially when the battle isn't particularly interesting to watch and doesn't give any overly useful feedback to warrant such a lengthy time investment. Yes, agreed. But, there is a fair amount to do during the battles. The idea is to study what's happening and alter your plans/loadouts if needed. I'd personally like to see more information available, but there's enough to keep my brain occupied. So far you're making it out that the game is a screensaver, which it isn't.
I didn't complain that I wanted my money back, I complained that I didn't get the value I spent. Look, your comment had as much point as a mundane twitter status update. I made the comment about demos to remind you it's a way of getting value. End of story, take it or leave it.
Had I downloaded the demo I'd complain that I didn't get any fun out of the hour or two I put into the game. Then what'd your snappy response be? Heck, I don't know. Lots of people have complained about the demo, and that's been fine. People can dislike games. What irks me is when someone throws down silly blanket statements about people, and whines about a game when they could have easily checked it out before buying. |

The only thing I really learn from watching battles is that I have no clue how to stop my fighters from immediately zipping across space and getting blown to crap before other ships come in and take out shields. Just assign them to escort your crusiers and increase their range to 250. That way they stay close and provide an extra punch / distraction when the enemy ships get a bit closer. Combine it with the vulture order and it works quite effectively. Unless you set them up with rockets / torpedoes and set them to attack frigates / cruisers, which also works very well. |

No, it's because it's fun. Obviously there will be people who dislike games which don't get the adrenaline pumping through their veins at lightspeed, but for those who can appreciate a quieter game it's great. Next time try the long forgotten technique of playing the demo. I didn't complain that I wanted my money back, I complained that I didn't get the value I spent. I think a lot of the love for this game here is homerism, as cliffski posts here, is their friend, and they love it for that reason. No, it's because it's fun. Didn't get my $5 worth. Next time try the long forgotten technique of playing the demo. |

I bought it on Steam sale the other week. People here seem to say it's a good strategy game.
Gave it a shot when I got it, and another last night. Not a fan. I don't feel like I'm doing anything. The game is pretty much just about creating new ships, but you need to test the ships. Testing is nearly impossible because the battles are so insanely boring. When I play I put it on 4x speed and walk away for 10 minutes. Sometimes I'll come back and my ships up high have won the battle but down low lost so it's in the process of having those two halves of fleets converge, which takes forever even at 4x. I'd much rather just have it sim the battle with the click of a button and give me better stats. The only thing I really learn from watching battles is that I have no clue how to stop my fighters from immediately zipping across space and getting blown to crap before other ships come in and take out shields.

I'm sure there's depth to choosing which ships to build, but the process is far too slow for me to bother learning. Similarly I'm sure a lot can be learned by refighting the same battles, trying to figure out exactly how you can get more honor points, but man, it's so tedious to have your computer do the same 10 minute battle with a slight change as you watch. I'd really much rather get very detailed stats (not a fan of the current stats) telling me how much damage each ship gave, how much it received, how long it lasted, etc., at the click of a button rather than having to watch some 10 minute screen saver I'm too zoomed in on.
Didn't get my $5 worth. I'm sure others have. |

World of Warcraft sells well, but would blizzard benefit from knowing the reasoning behind those people who have not bought WoW? Of course they would.
I have never said the game didn't sell well, i am very pleased with it's sales. Some people never get past the headline and automatically go into 'bash-developer' mode, and accuse them of 'whining' just because they ask a question of gamers.
Just an observation. Every time I see you comment on a board, I don't think the "tone" in your head while you're typing is the same "tone" people read into your words. "Some people" think you come across as a jackass. Not me, I think you're swell. But "some people"... |

hmm I dunno about this whole thing, sure this guy's an indie but this is a turn-based type of game correct? Obviously I am not expecting to be blown away, but there are far older 16-bit games that look better. Not a fan lol, moving on. |

I looked at the graphics and they didn't look attractive. Obviously I am not expecting to be blown away, but there are far older 16-bit games that look better.
Not a fan, but again perhaps I am not the targeted audience for this. I also didn't like the way he went about asking everyone why people didn't buy his game, claiming that he's not whining about it, but honestly why even ask the question? I've never even heard of this GSB game prior to that. Not the best way to market the game. |

Some things I had problems with. I found that even setting my fighters caution to 99% they'd still die before returning to a repair module. Increasing the number of fighters didn't seem to fix this. I messed around with Frigates a bit but ended up not bothering with them. I also found myself wanting more and unique modules. I also found myself sticking with the hulls with the most modules and hard points regardless of hull bonuses. That's pretty similar to my experience. I love the game - it's a great blast and really makes you think about everything - but frigates are virtually useless, fighters don't seem to like being repaired and the more hard points the better the ship.
Anyway, this expansion sounds good. I just wish there was more in the way of meaningful orders / tactics and more variety of ship combos. |

I got it recently on a Steam sale. I had fun with it. I liked tweaking the ships and formations to get just a few more points. I didn't mind not being able to control the action at all.

I don't. Though I find it interesting in that initially it didn't sell well at all and the guy behind it was puzzled.
Then the collector's edition came in third on Steam's top 10 list. |

| I bought it and played it once, I just couldn’t get into the stagnant battles. The game would have been much better if you could actually have control over the fleets but all this is to me is a screen saver with battles. I’ll stick to Sins for my Fleet battles. Way more fun that this game. |
